Summary
Admiral John "Black Jack" Geary may have saved the Alliance only to destroy it in this thrilling and eagerly awaited continuation of the New York Times best-selling series.
Geary believed in the Alliance. Even when he uncovered overwhelming evidence that the highest echelons of the government and fleet command were involved in secret programs and prison camps, he believed it was worth saving. He believed his duty was to see that justice was served even though some factions feared that revealing the truth would cause the Alliance to crumble.
But after narrowly surviving two assassination attempts when he brings evidence of the misdeeds to the capital star system, Geary realizes that some have decided the easiest way to make the Alliance's problems go away is to get rid of him. Loved it!!
Admiral Geary is back!! I forgot how much I have missed the lost fleet series in my life but this seamlessly continued the story of blackjack!!

This was another good book from the lost fleet saga good continuation a very good start for a new spin off really enjoyed it

Jack Campbell at his best
The third sequence of Black Jack tales is off to a brilliant start. Some themes begin in previous books have been expanded and become more thoughtful as well.

More of the same
More of the same, which isn't to say it was bad however it ended at the exact point I had hoped the story would start. Nothing new was really explore and what was explored wasn't that interesting to me but worked well enough as a set up for what should be an interesting run into alien space next book.

Having listened to all the predecessors this was slightly more slower paced, good enough story just not as fun as the previous within the full series - I shall however continue to read/listen to this series as I’m sure it’s a setting the stall out for the next two books.
