Summary
The fifth novel in Julia Quinn's globally beloved and best-selling Bridgerton Family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. This is Eloise's story.
My dear Miss Bridgerton,
We have been corresponding now for quite some time, and although we have never formally met, I feel as if I know you. I am writing to invite you to visit me here at Romney Hall. It is my hope that after a suitable period of time, we might decide that we will suit, and you will consent to be my wife.
Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match.
Except...he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled...and when he kissed her...the rest of the world simply fell away. Could this imperfect man be perfect for her?

Another.....
lovely storyline with some great antics and characters. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

Grate story but with painful view of depression
The story is grate. Characters are developing well. I love how Julia makes a point that often two people feel the same but don't know about it. How important honest talking and sharing with other person is. How that can change everything.
However I disliked the picture of Marinas' depression. It is described as a great suffering for her husband, and as much as it is it for sure true, there was no true regard for her, while the pain she must have felt (it drive her to suicide after all) must have been unimaginable. She was already melancholic before marriage with a husband who did not love her. And post partum depression must have been difficult to overcome in such circumstances. I especially hated in second epilogue when her daughter Amanda wishes that she killed herself even earlier.
Pictures like that makes people suffering from depression, that horrible disease, in feel that they cannot share their stories, their suffering sat danger of being misjudged. It makes them feel that is actually better to kill themselves to spare the pain of the people around them. And that is never true. Every live matters. And with proper help and treatment it is possible to live happy live.

I wish they got the Cast to read these books
I love Bridgerton but it would be amazing for the adult actors of the Bridgerton family to do the audiobooks too! Like Luke Thompson and Jonathan Bailey who is already an audiobook reader

This story is one of the best of the series
I love this story, I love the personalities of Eloise and Philip. I love how Eloise is with the children as well.

Poor Eloise
What a depressing story for Eloise. I don’t want to put spoilers in here but Sir Phillip is selfish and allows his trauma to be an excuse for his sexist, rude behaviour. The author seemed to have missed a huge amount of character development for him because in the last chapter he switches into something totally different from his thoughts and actions during the entire book. It felt jarring and their issues are simply resolved with a “well I just can’t be married to someone who is unhappy”. Poor Eloise. Let’s hope the TV Series develops Phillip in a better way than the author did.
