About this listen
Halloween is only fun when the dead are just pretending....
Paislee Grimes’s quaint Connecticut town doesn’t mess around when it comes to holidays - and her family takes Halloween even more seriously than most.
But this year, something is very wrong on their once-quiet streets. Bodies are piling up, and Paislee is desperate to piece together clues that point to a killer with a connection to a recent not-quite-solved murder - and a connection to Paislee herself.
Time is running out as the killer drags more Pine Grove residents into a twisted game, and the cryptic pieces of this dark puzzle seem to be circling closer and closer to Paislee and her friends.
But no one threatens the town Paislee loves and gets away with it - and she and her friends won’t rest until the corpses are purely decorative.
This time, it’s personal.

Swept the cobwebs away
I did enjoy this but it is book two in the series and you really need to have read the first book. I have listened to it but it was a while ago and I struggled to follow along with this one because a lot that happened took part in the first book and wasn't explained in this one. So going back to listen to the first book and then this book again. As I said I did enjoy it but I think I need to get the next book to explain what it going on or to find the conclusion. The characters are good and I found them entertaining. Loved the sound of the street decoration/party and it made you want to visit the street just to get peek. The mystery was good, what was explained, and it did have a number of twist to keep you guessing. It just left me thinking well okay then, this won't put me off getting next book.
Paislee and her family are preparing for the Halloween season by getting there backyard really for the the annual competition, when three teenage boys go missing before the big game. Then one of them turns up painted like a skeleton and left for dead on Paislee's gravestone. What happened to the other two boys? And who killed him? Paislee and her friends keep finding clues all over town but can they piece them together before another body is found? Another boy is found in a mock crash scene and Paislee fights hard to keep him alive but is it at her own expense? Because what ever is going on seems personal and the target is Paislee herself.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a really good job with all the voices, from the teenagers to the adults all sounded good.
