Summary

The two original Buck Rogers novellas.

Buck Rogers was a huge success, spawning many imitators such as Flash Gordon.

Despite being written prior to World War II, the story line accurately foreshadowed several notable advancements in technology: bazookas, consumer e-purchasing, immersive telepresence, night vision devices, optical devices for small arms such as the red-dot sight, paratroopers, remote piloted surveillance and attack drones, telecommuting, and wireless phones - including the flip phone!

Sounds Quite Boring With Narrator

I have seen a black and white serial and the 70s TV movie and series but much later learnt about the original origin story of Antony "Buck" Rogers. and now I found the audiobook version of that origin story. I like it despite the narrator and the technology may not be fancy as a lightsabers, phasers and TARDISs but if you can get past the narrator's voice, the tech sounds quite interesting. I have always loved this kind of sci-fi story when the hero wakes up in the far flung future and has to navigate through their new world.

I have heard some great narrators and I have heard some bad narrators but this one can make anything boring with his slow boring sounding voice which unfortuantely makes the story boring. Now if you have a good narrator, then the story would be far better.
