Summary

Travis

After the accident, the chief was pushing me to retire. Being a firefighter was all I had ever wanted, what I lived for. Well, other than my 12-year-old daughter, Abby. Raising her as a single dad, much less a busy firefighter, wasn't easy, but life never is.

Then a call came in from an all-too-familiar area code. I was being beckoned back to my hometown, back to Canon. I had left that small town years ago, leaving behind a lot, including...her.

Sophie

I never intended to stay in my hometown of Canon. But after college and losing Travis to the big city, I kind of just ended up back here. My time was spent either teaching at school or reading at home. Both of which contributed to the "spinster" rumors going around.

But my ho-hum existence was suddenly ignited. A girl with fiery red hair and his emerald eyes showed up at the Homestead, his mom's restaurant. Was he back? Was Travis in Canon?

Burnt is a steamy, full-length single-dad small-town romance with a guaranteed HEA!

A sweet, low angst, second chance romoance

The narrators did a good job of bringing this story to life. But this book didn't really do it for me. For me, the author spent a lot of time going into unnecessary details which caused me to get a little bored with the story. An example is the amount of detail the author went into when Travis drove to Sophie's house for their first date and got out of the car to go to the passenger side of the car to get the wine and flowers he bought for her. I also didn't feel very invested or connected in the characters' story. Overall, this story is a sweet, low angst read. It was an enjoyable, but relatively unmemorable read for me.

Great, low angst romance

I have to say that i think there is a disconnect between the book cover, which is dark, and the content of the book itself. What a sweet, low angst story. I loved Sophie, the heroine. She was 32 years old but still so sweet and innocent. She loved Travis since college but fear stopped her from moving on with him. 14 years later, Travis had a daughter and he was still recovering from a firefighting accident when he went back to his hometown.

I loved the scene when she was trying to find out more about Travis after seeing his daughter with his mother. It was so adorable. There was also a set up of the other characters that I assume will be part of the series (which I will definitely be reading.) This is a very low angst story and I found myself smiling a lot through the story because it was such a sweet story.

Both Juliana and Daniel James were great with the voices and the emotion. I definitely think they added to the story. Both voices were perfect for the major characters- their voices, pacing were nice to listen to.

Single parent romance...

I’m a sucker for single parent romance. This story doesn’t disappoint my obsession. I also love that it’s a second chance romance as well. I rooted for Travis & Sophie from the beginning. and I’m happy the got their HEA.

I loved Juliana Solos narration. I think she read the part of Sophie very well. I look forward to listening to her in the future.

I wasn’t too sure about Daniel James Lewis. I felt like his part was read a little too fast. But as I got further into the book I was able to get past that and began to enjoy listening to him.

Beautiful

I loved that the characters weren’t perfect in this book and that they found each other. The narrators did a fantastic job of bringing each character into the world through their voices etc. definitely a book I will listen to again

Loved this small town romance

Loved this! Relatable characters and great second chance love story made this a great listen. Loved getting to know Sophie, Travis, and their friend and family. Fantastic narrators too, both brought the story to life with unique voices for each character and plenty of emotion. A good story

Burnt is a sweet single dad, second chance, small town romance. I listened to the audible version of this novel. The narrators Juliana Solo, Daniel James Lewis did a good job with the narration. Their voices blended well together and they brought the characters to life. I enjoyed listening to them.
That being said the story itself fell a bit flat at certain times. There were a couple steamy scenes and a slight hint of a mystery that was soon resolved. I did not really like Sophie as she felt a bit immature to me but I did like Travis and his dedication to his daughter. However I did not really feel the connection between these two as a couple.
If you are looking for a story with no angst or drama, this is the one for you.

What I liked/Didn’t Like about the narration: Juliana Solos Narration was perfect. Daniel James Lewis Narration was a bit fast for my taste but once I got used to it, it was good

What I liked/Didn’t Like about the book itself: I love second chance romances and this one hit the mark for that. Well written and fun to listen to.

This One Touched My Heart ❤

Burnt: "A Single Dad Small Town Romance" written by Lacy Hart, really touched my heart. This single dad learned from his recently deceased father's Attorney, that there's papers and property he needs to take care of in person in the small town he's originally from.

When he returns back to his hometown, he learns that he inherited a home, a recently purchased truck, cash from a life insurance policy, cash from his dad's account, a little sister and the love of his life had moved back to town several years ago.

Lacy Hart brought out all the mushy stuff for this book. She even brought it out in the male character which actually was very refreshing, because it always seem to be written how the female was always daydreaming about when they would get together, and how he would make her feel. What she would like for him to do to her. So, we got to hear the flip side of it, from what a man daydreams about.

Both of the narrator's Juliana Solo and Daniel James Lewis are new to my ears, but they did an exquisite job with the many characters that were written for this book. I recommend this book to others for sure!

second chance and small town

this is a fun quick listen. it combines three of my favorite tropes, second chance, small town, and no angst. I enjoyed it while at work, and had fun following Travis and Sophie's path to their HEA. Travis as a single dad with Abby, and Sophie as a teacher. Match made in heaven. The narrators did a really good job.

Loved 🥰

I really enjoyed this contemporary second chance romance story. Travis always curious about his old love from college, Sophie. And Sophie never really moving on after Travis. An unfortunate event brings Travis back to his home town, and throughout the story you learn why he’s avoided going back. I do like the HEA that was given. Juliana and Daniel not do an excellent job in bringing the story to life, a must add to your audible book list.
