Summary

Even at 37, with a challenging but rewarding career as a paramedic, Bella Gomez is treated as the baby of the family. It's made her allergic to anyone meddling, so she chooses to keep mostly to herself. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop her family from inserting themselves in her life. Nor does it deter the one man she knows she shouldn't get close to from showing up on her doorstep.

Jasper Greene, an FBI agent with the La Plata County field office, doesn't even know the meaning of family. His team is his family, which is why - when his boss asks him to keep an eye on his baby sister - Jasper readily complies. Even when the sister in question is a spectacularly developed princess with plenty of attitude.

With a shooter on the loose and corruption running rampant, Bella is a magnet for trouble, and Jasper finds himself with his hands full - in more ways than one.

Rock Point series book 2

A great follow on book from Freya Barker. The narrators did a brilliant job of bringing Bella and Jasper to life. The characters follow through from Keeping 6 and I enjoyed learning more about them and their backgrounds. Highly recommend and am so looking forward to listening to HWY 550…

Great second book

I thoroughly enjoyed this one too, these books have plenty of story to go with the romance. I've loved listening to Bella and Jasper's story, especially as the narrations are well performed. you can't help but want to know more about the family and extended family, as the characters are all well developed. I'm going straight on to the next book and have already purchased the 4th as I have every confidence I'm going to thoroughly enjoy them as much as I have the first two.

A entertaining book with crime, drama, and romance

Just like the first book, Cabin 12 is full of angst, drama and has an FBI alpha hero. There are also crimes to be solved and in the mix of it all, romance with a few hot moments.

I enjoyed it. An all-rounder that keeps you entertained all the way to the hea. The characters are likable and I'm looking forward to more in this series.

The audio version had great narration and both narrators made the story entertaining and interesting

The EMT and The FBI Agent

This is the second book in a series of connected books. The plot stands alone, but the characters share history and this contributes to the story. You will enjoy this book more if you have already read the first book in the series. There is no cliffhanger.

***TRIGGER WARNING: There are references to sexual assault and mental health issues. Neither are dwelled on intensely but they have affects on characters in this story.***

Bella Gomez is the sister of Damien, the MMC in the first book in this series. She is a paramedic and moved to Durango a year ago after she was forced to quit her old job. Her ex worked with her and spent a big chunk of their years together cheating on her with colleagues and sexually harassing those who weren’t willing partners. Suffering from depression, her very large and meddling family didn’t really know how to help her, and being around them didn't help. Eventually, she moved to be near her brother, the family member who understood her the most.

When Bella first met FBI SA Jasper Greene she saw a pretty and charming man, who didn’t take relationships seriously. She dismisses him out of hand and their interactions are quite abrasive. Jasper really likes Bella but steers clear of her because her brother is his boss and Bella seems to be really against the idea of getting together. Jasper was abandoned at age 3 and spent his childhood in the foster system. He loves his job and when he tried a relationship in the past it didn’t work out too well, so now it’s short term flings or nothing.

Circumstances force them together when Damien is on his honeymoon, and they get to see each other more clearly and things become complicated. I really enjoyed the suspense aspect of this book. It was complex and interesting. It was less of a ‘whodunnit’ and more of ‘howtocatchhim’, all of which had Bella being pulled in because of being at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I really enjoyed the family dynamic in this book because it shows how even when you are 38 years old you can learn something about your family and they can see you in different ways too. Sometimes it only takes looking at things from a different point of view to help you understand that someone may hurt you, but that doesn’t mean they don’t love you, they just have their own baggage to haul around that causes them to behave in certain ways.

This is a well-written book, with likeable characters that draw you into their world. The plot is intriguing and the romance is emotionally satisfying. There is passion, laughter and tears in this book and once again Freya Barker writes a thoroughly enjoyable story.

I actually read this in ebook format originally around 6 months ago and decided to give it a try in audio format. I’m really glad I did because the narrators were convincing and entertaining. They felt like a natural fit for the main characters and they enhanced my enjoyment of the story. I definitely recommend listening to this book.

Absolutely fantastic 👍👍👍✔️📦❤️🔥

What a fabulous book. This is my second by Freya Barker…..I sought it out straight after listening to ‘Keeping 6’ which is the first book in the series. Whilst some of the characters cross over between books, they are completely standalone, which is great, giving the reader/listeners a choice to carry on. I’m not a fan of authors who drag out a story over many books. Freya Barker has not done that….bravo! 😁
This book was an excellent story, with really likeable and well thought out characters. The plot was brilliant with lots of twists and turns, really exciting stuff! The lead characters had fantastic chemistry and really hot and steamy scenes 🔥❤️😉
As in the previous book, they are older, 37 and 41 years old, which I found really refreshing…… not the usual ditsy 18-21 yr old virgin with an older man. It makes it more believable and they both had normal jobs…..no billionaires here who who own sex clubs ( people who read/listen to this genre a lot, like me, will understand that point) 😁
The narrators were great again!!
Books like this, ie properly produced and well written, with attention to detail and craftsmanship, by authors who don’t insult or ‘milk’ the readers, are the sole reason I subscribe to services like this.
A TOTAL PLEASURE TO LISTEN TO. Thank you Freya Barker x
