About this listen
For many years, Camilla was portrayed in a poor light, blamed by the public for the break-up of the marriage between Prince Charles and Lady Diana. Initially, the Queen refused to see or speak to her, but, after the death of Prince Philip, the Duchess became one of the Queen's closest companions. Her confidence in Camilla and the transformation she saw in Prince Charles since their wedding resulted in her choosing the first day of her Platinum Jubilee year to tell the world that she wanted Camilla to be Queen Consort not the demeaning Princess Consort suggested in 2005
Angela Levin uncovers Camilla’s rocky journey to be accepted by the royal family and how she coped with the brutal portrayal of her in Netflix's The Crown. The public have witnessed her tremendous contribution to help those in need, especially during Covid. Levin has talked to many of the Duchess’s long-term friends, her staff and executives from the numerous charities of which Camilla is patron. She reveals why Camilla concentrates on previously taboo subjects, such as domestic violence and rape. Most of all, Levin tells the story of how Camilla has changed from a fun-loving young woman to one of the senior royals’ hardest workers. She has retained her mischievous sense of humour, becoming a role model for older women and an inspiration for younger ones.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is both an extraordinary love story and a fascinating portrait of an increasingly confident Queen Consort. It is an essential read for anyone wanting a greater insight into the royal family.

Fantastic listen
I’ve listened to a few biographies of Camilla but must admit this was my favourite, well researched, well read and well presented. Actually disappointed it’s finished.
Also impressed that the last chapter altered slightly to incorporate the passing of Her Majesty the Queen (especially as book was published around the time of her passing).

An Insight into the Queen
Camilla has been around for many years, both in the foreground and background. she has gone from u popular and heavily vilified to enormously popular and respected.
I've found this book very interested describing her journey. She comes across, both from this book and seeing her on TV as very genuine, with no airs of superiority or stuffiness.
We are most fortunate to have her, the King and the other working members of the Royal Family.

Good book but nothing new
There is so much in general press now it’s very hard to have anything new in a book like this
However it’s a decent book and very well read

Very Positive
It's a fair biography of a normal woman in abnormal circumstances. It's more uplifting than I might have thought it would be.

A real love story
I never liked Camilla, but over the years we’ve seen how she supports Charles, and you can see they adore each other.
I feel sorry for them right now. What with The Crown, Andrew, and the Harkles. It can’t be easy trying to walk in our late Queens shoes, under the worlds spotlight, almost wanting you to put a foot wrong.
Camilla will make a great Queen alongside our new King.

Excellent read
This is an enjoyable read - it depicts Camilla as the compassionate person she is . She has brought Charles into the real world and it’s obvious that he is a very much happier human being . Long live King Charles and Queen Camilla .

Pro Camilla
It’s good to read about Camilla’s experience of well documented events, however; the book would have been a 5 star if it wasn’t so obviously biased in Camilla’s favour. The book makes an unnecessary point of portraying Diana, Harry and Meghan in a negative light which was really distasteful. OK read overall.

Well written but the authors voice is a bit wearing and condescending at times. I would not listen to another book with her narrating

A good book to read
I always believed that Diana was wrong and I still do as a young woman she was, but I think there has to be a time that you have to put a line in the sand and say king. Charles deserves to be happy and Camilla makes him happy for all the wrong, there should be some right and I think it’s time to allow her to be Queen, Camilla passed is past and it shows there happy and she seems very nice 😊 enjoyed this book
