Hackneyed
Oh {yawn!}
He's deliberately obnoxious, misogynistic, and provoking... But he's SO handsome... {sigh!}
Really? How completely overused is that one? And how shallow and lacking in self-worth does a woman have to be to be attracted to an otherwise vile man simply because of his looks....?
It's really not a trait that causes me to have any empathy with the main protagonist of a story, and if there's no empathy with the main protagoist I'm not going to enjoy the book.

Enjoyable listen and the narrator was excellent!
I have enjoyed other books by this author (under one of their pseudonyms - I think this is one too) so I was keen to give this a go as I find it quite hard to find a good cozy mystery series to get into. I love a series because you can really get to know the main characters and the developing relationships between them usually lead to some fun moments in the story. This is a new narrator for me and I really enjoyed the performance and will look to see what else she has narrated. I am looking forward to listening to the next book in this series.

not quite as expected
this very un PC chic lit story, was fairly entertaining as long as you were listening to get to sleep. Narrator's voice was a little irritating but her characterisation was good. the story was very predictable and almost nothing about a cat!!! rather misleading. Still, ok for a sunny beach read, or a late nightcap!

Hard to Rate and Review
This is a tricky one. On the one hand, Lacey repeatedly puts herself in harms way and eventually, that gets tiring/wearing. On the other hand, the supporting cast of characters are really 2 or 3 dimensional. Her parents are interesting, her friends have depth and even the older characters give the story warmth and personality.
I’m guessing that the reason for so many lacklustre reviews is because, it’s hard to warm to the central character.
The murder/mystery is not so much intriguing as muddled and, if I’m honest, I think that there’s only a partial resolution…
So. In essence, the story is not so dire as to be boring, nor so interesting as to be compelling! The series is free, so it is worth investigating in further…

Sparkly
This was a fun cozy mystery and a series I will be visiting again. The only disappointment was I thought with a series called Kitty Couture Mysteries, animals would play a greater role in the story, instead no funny antics from the pets just there owners. Don't get me wrong in did enjoy it, I just thought we would get lots of pet mishaps and we didn't. The characters were good though, if a little quirky and unusual (leg warmers for llamas). I guess it's more of an American thing dressing up pets or a rich thing, sounds fun and cute but I am so not trying it on my cat. I liked how the characters interacted with each other, from the strained relationship between mother and daughter, to the want to be boyfriends meddling, even the detective who doesn't knew if he wants to lock her up or kiss her , all adds drama and entertainment to the story. The mystery was good, I had guessed who the killer was but it was still a lot of fun listening the characters figure it out and there was a few twists so I wasn't totally right. I am off to start book two.
Lacy returns to New Orleans under a mountain of debt after dropping out of law school and instead studying fashion but she is determined to do it on her own without help from her rich parents. So she finds a businessman to back her with the opening of her shop Furry Godmother, pet boutique and organic treat bakery. Designing clothes for pets is her dream job and New Orleans with all there festivals the perfect place. The only problem is somebody is robbing jewerly stores in the area. When the thief tries it with Lacy's shop, she is ready for him and zaps him with a glitter gun and runs. When she returns with the police it is to find him dead. The police start to treat her as the suspect and she knows it's only a matter of time before she is arrested, unless she finds the killer. With the police taking a hard look at her, her investor pulls out and her dream of owning her own shop is in trouble. Unless she can convince her customers she isn't to blame. When her shop is broken into she is surprised when everybody rallies around her to help, they might be a way to stay in business after all. If she can figure out if the death and the break in are connected and if so what the killer was looking for first. And what did the dead man wanted in her shop in the first place.
I liked the narrator. She did some good voices which helped to bring the story to life.

Just what I need to unwind after a hard day at work. I listen in the car going to and from work and just before sleep.

What’s up with the negative reviews?
Although this mystery is not as good as a Patricia Cornwell Scarpetta book, it is still an above average cozy mystery. The characters were well developed and believable. I highly recommend this to fans of cozy mysteries, and of course cat lovers too.

I loved Julie Chase's " Cat Got Your Diamonds" and can't wait to listen to the next book in the series. I'm normally a historical romance reader but this book captured my interest and heart right away! Quirky characters I loved, a fast paced plot, and an ending that left me in anticipation for the next book. I want more and will be buying the series. Try it. I'm sure you will love it too❤️.

Everything a cozy mystery should be.
Characters that live in a world slightly too good for reality TV, even the ones who eventually are not. If you want light and airy with a decent story line read by a capably narrator, it’s a good read. After a few heavy reads this cozy mystery is like cleansing your reading palate.

Couldn’t finish reading
I found the story boring (especially the predictable “romance” angle) and I only listened up to chapter 9. None of the characters were particularly likable, including the main character who spoke in first person.
Reminded me more of a Harlequin Romantic Suspense than a cozy mystery.
