About this listen
Chef Wyatt Blake is finally ready to move on from his thankless job. He gets no wiggle room, zero praise, plenty of abuse, and on a good day, he might only spend 12 hours in the Terroir kitchens.
A friend of his recommends a private chef position, but despite the boost in pay, Wyatt doesn’t want to babysit some spoiled, rich LA family. Imagine his shock when the family isn't a Kardashian clone but Ryan Flores, the only professional baseball player to ever come out of the closet.
Ryan is also at a career crossroads. His team’s management wants to see his more responsible side, which means no more late-night hookups and no more adrenaline-charged stunts. When his agent suggests he find a fake boyfriend to give him an air of domesticity, he’s only reluctantly interested. Until, Ryan goes to a local bar and spies the cute private chef he’s supposed to be interviewing the next day.
Maybe a quieter life wouldn’t be so bad, as long as Wyatt is part of it?
Wyatt believes Ryan could be more than just a crappy boss, but he isn't sure about leaving the kitchen for the life of a professional boyfriend. Especially when he wants the reality so much more than the fantasy.
Catch Me is a contemporary gay romance, and while it is the second book in the Kitchen Gods series, it can be listened to as a stand-alone.

great story
Both the author and the narrator were new to me. I struggled with the narrator at first but LOVED the story the author wrote. I will be sure to pick up more from this author and go back and read book one of this story.

I want to punch Ryan!
Which means that Beth Bolden is a great writer! If an author gets me to the stage that I actually want to do physical harm to a character, it pretty much means they’re believable.
I loved Wyatt, I could even forgive him for letting Ryan treat him like a fool as he was such a nice bloke! Ryan, on the other hand was a very frustrating chap to say the least. I understand the way Wyatt felt about him but I’d have smacked him in the face!
I enjoyed the narration, I would listen to more of Wyatt Bakers work.

Great fake romance, slight mishit in narration
I'm loving the fake romance trope at the moment and so was eager to listen to Beth Bolden's Catch Me.
I love the characters and our introduction to them at a nightclub. Wyatt is in town for a job interview without knowing who he'd be working for and spots Ryan, a professional baseball player. Even across the room is a spark of connection quickly followed by a hook up. What Wyatt never saw coming was Ryan walking into his interview the next day as his future boss that he will private chef for in order to help pay for his grandmother's care home fees. Ryan is in need of a more wholesome image and so the idea of a fake boyfriend comes up, and why not combine private chef and fake boyfriend into one job?!
What follows is heat and attraction, fun and friendship mixed up with secrets, fears, worry and meddlesome agents and friends.
I really enjoyed the story and how it evolved for the two men. I think it took me a while to get into the book as I found the narration to be a bit monotone, not allowing much for emotion and depth as we go between characters. There's a lot on the line for both men and I was drawn into their story, needing to know how everything worked out for the men individually but most of all as a possible couple.
I'd recommend the story absolutely and try a sample to see if Wyatt's narration is good for you. Each to their own but I will happily give another of Wyatt's stories a go.

Baseball Player hires Hot Chef as Fake Boyfriend
Beth Bolden and the Kitchen Gods series are new to me, but I have heard other books narrated by Wyatt Baker before and I've enjoyed those as he's one of those narrators who can bring the characters to life, including Ryan Flores' Puerto Rican auntie and Wyatt's elderly Nana. You don't have to have read the first book win the series to enjoy this though the characters from that book do make several appearance in this story too.
I do like a fake boyfriend trope and Ryan hiring Wyatt to be his personal chef/fake boyfriend fits the bill quite nicely. They do have plenty of ups and downs in their relationship with things getting very bumpy right before they get real. I do recommend this for lovers of Contemporary MM romance with a Fake to Real relationship and HEA.

Good fake boyfriend story.
I enjoyed Catch Me. We saw a little bit of Wyatt being Mile’s roommate and one of the chefs at Terroire in Bite Me. In this we see him leave the restaurant to be a private chef for baseball player Ryan Flores. He first meets Ryan when in LA for the private chef interview - though at this point he didn’t know that Ryan was his potential employee - and they have some fun. Bit awkward the next day...but Wyatt has to earn money to help support his Nana’s supported accommodation somehow.
When Ryan comes clean about the fake boyfriend story...that’s where more of the action starts to happen. But will two men, each with difficulties in their lives, get their happily ever after?
I enjoyed the fact that both men wanted more, but were afraid to mess up the agreement, and how they worked to overcome this.
Enjoyable narration too, kept me engaged and listening - and not cringing over the characters as can sometime happen.

Entertaining...
4 Stars!
So, I had the chance to read this book before, so I knew what I was getting into by listening to Catch me in audio. This series needs to be read/listened to in order, so don't forget to grab Bite Me before reading Catch Me.
I liked Wyatt a lot, he was nice and even if he was in the closet to his family, he had good enough reasons to be. My main problem with him was how doormat-ish he acted with Ryan, I get being attracted to the man, but Wyatt pretty much let Ryan walk all over him. And Ryan, well, I kept wavering between somewhat liking him and wanting to throttle him, unfortunately, in the end, the wanting to throttling him won. His reasons for not wanting a real boyfriend were flimsy at best and he acted like an immature twat in the last bit of the story, especially when he was supposed to be trying to win Wyatt over. Which brings me to one of my pet peeves, the fact that Wyatt just forgave Ryan so easily after both his stunts, made me want to scream. Wyatt and Ryan had good chemistry and I liked their interactions when Ryan wasn't annoying me.
I loved Wyatt's grandma and catching up with Xander, Kian and Miles and while this wasn't my favorite book in the series, it was still entertaining and enjoyable.
I found Wyatt's voice quite pleasant and he did a great job narrating the book and giving each character a distinct tone.

Fake boyfriend...
Ryan needs to show he is a stable sports celebrity man, a gay man at that. He hires chef Wyatt as his personal cook but it’s not the only thing he wants to hire him for. They have awesome chemistry but their own misgivings keep them emotionally away from each other. I liked their story, with great second characters and a sweet hea.
