Giana Darling
About this listen
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Giana Darling comes an age gap, friends to enemies to lovers romance about a rebel soul and her best friend's dad who wants absolutely nothing to do with her...
I fell in love with my best friend's dad when I was seventeen.
He seemed like some kind of heathen god, big enough to kill a man with his bare hands, tattooed with bright, bold images, and weathered by time and a short stint in prison.
Blind to the consequences, I made a mistake that ran him out of town and ruined his life.
Now, he's back after all these years––hating me more than the day he left.
What he doesn't know is that I've been working to atone for my sins.
I've infiltrated the Vancouver triad that killed his wife.
Always my protector, he decides it's not safe for me to be in this alone, so he resolves to get me out of the Triad and out of his hair for good.
*A stand-alone novel in The Fallen Men Series.*

Caution to the wind
My first book in this series, but I enjoyed it a lot.
And the narrators did a great job.
Age gap is one of my top favorites and best friends dad is one too.
So there were already some things I liked a lot before I even started the book.
A couple which seems to doesn't fit, MC/mafia big vibes, more than enough tragedies and interesting backgrounds.
Yes, I definitely enjoyed this book.

Loved it
Loved this book so had to get the audio. Liked the narrator's in this one,the only issue with it is the female narrator's voice doing the male parts, especially henning. She talked quietly when doing it, a little irritating at times.

Dark, brutal & full of emotion
This was such a slow burn. You were immediately wrapped up in Rocky’s life and why things played out how they did.
She was fiercely loyal and protective, at times to her own determinate, but she never stopped loving & fighting.
Axe Man has had a life full of loss and brutality, he is just living life.
There was a long journey, so much loss and brutality, angst, loyalty and bit of hope.
Both narrators did an amazing job bringing this slow burn, angst filled story to life.

absolutely loved it
Am I sitting here after finishing Caution to the Wind kicking myself for picking up this book without reading the rest of the series? Yes, yes I am.
How have I never read this series before 😲
This series is now the top of my tbr pile.
I don't know what it is about the harshness of a biker gang then the softness they bring to their relationships. This story was so beautiful and emotional. I loved all the characters and especially that they all had their own flaws. It just made them even more loveable. I loved how strong both Mei and Axeman are of each other and their family and friends. Their love for each other is captivating and wonderful and they definitely earned their HEA after all they went through.
Now I need to go back and binge this series!!

✨dual narration✨
This one had a firm grip on my heart and believe me when I say it liked to test the limits on how hard to squeeze before I was bawling my eyes out 😭
I’ve felt so many emotions throughout this book, that I’m convinced it had me needing therapy but was also the therapy I needed 👏🏼

Narrators were great
Audiobook review: Narrated by Scott Rose and Cindy Kay
3.5 stars for story / 4.5 stars for narration
The backstory for this one is unique in that it doesn't originate with the MC at all and I found that a bit original to the previous books in the series. Axe-man's history is kind of all of the place and feels a bit scattered. Mei definitely is the star of this story. I love her feistiness, independence and loyalty even though it is misguided at times. Of course that is what leads the majority of the plot points throughout the story so it is a good thing in the end. I appreciated how the author handled the age gap with the time jump and the separation of our MCs helped the transition in their relationship. Mei and Cleo's relationship was beautifully written and was another positive in the story for me. There was a bit of a slow period in the middle but the fact that I listened on audio helped.
Cindy Kay was phenomenal as Mei. Her performance was believable and her interpretation of Axe-man was spot on. She played the alpha male role almost as convincingly as Scott Rose did. There were several emotionally driven scenes throughout this story and Scott Rose brought all the feelings to life in a big way. Both narrators were easy on the ears which is appreciated with such a long listen.

Dark, intense, emotional!
This is my first book in the Fallen Men series and while it can be read as a standalone I think I would have enjoyed this more if I had read the other books in the series.
Caution to the Wind is a dark, age gap, forbidden, best friend’s dad, friends to enemies to lovers, mc romance. This book is dark, intense, suspenseful, emotional and a roller coaster of a ride. I loved this story and these two as a couple. I was captivated from the beginning and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
The narration by Scott Rose and Cindy Kay was perfection! I loved listening to them being Axe-Man and Mei’s story to life.
Rating: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My heart is happy!
𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮! Axe-Man is here in audio and I was here for it! I was so excited to listen to this one. I absolutely love Tʜᴇ Fᴀʟʟᴇɴ Mᴇɴ series and have devoured them all. This one was no exception!
I fell hard for Axe-Man. That man....whew. He is one of my favorites from Tʜᴇ Fᴀʟʟᴇɴ Mᴇɴ and I am so happy his time for redemption and love has come! He's a viking if ever there was one, and his broodiness for everyone except his daughter Cleo was powerful! When Mei, his daughter's best friend returns to help her, I knew the tension was going to sky rocket and it sure enough did! I loved that he tried so hard to fight the attraction to his daughter's best friend, but the pull was just too strong!
Mei. What can I say about her? She was epically a bada$$ heroine and I adored her! The way she was the one calling him Henning, while no one else could....my girl, you made me fall hard for you, doing that! 👏🏼 She didn't back down in her feelings for Axe-Man even when he didn't return the feelings.
𝐶𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑦 𝐾𝑎𝑦 is a talented narrator who did an amazing job voicing Mei and bringing her to life. She put so much emotion into Mei! She was great choice for a narrator! This is my first time listening to 𝑆𝑐𝑜𝑡𝑡 𝑅𝑜𝑠𝑒, and he just made my favorites list! His voice is captivating and captured the rawness that was Axe-Man! He did an epic job at breathing life into him!
Once again, 𝙶𝚒𝚊𝚗𝚊 𝙳𝚊𝚛𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐 creates a gritty, raw, slow burn, heart capturing story of redemption, passion, found family & just plain epicness.

Caution to the Wind: The Fallen Men Book 7
🎧🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧🎧
My obsession with The Fallen Men only just begun in the summer of 2022 but since that time I have managed to listen to the entire series twice and a couple of them even three and four times. To say that I was obsessed with when this story would finally release is probably an understatement. To be honest, I was so ridiculously obsessed that I stopped checking Giana’s social media because the #twich level was rising my blood pressure to epic highs. That being said, I’d like to just remind everyone who might read this that 18 hours is a loooooooong time!
This story is more. I mean I don’t even know how else to say it. It’s bigger than its parts if that makes sense. Giana does this; she writes larger than life, action packed, gritty and dangerous stories. But she also weaves a whole lot of love, hope and redemption into all of it. Honestly, I cannot imagine what it takes to plot out a storyline such as this one. My hat goes off to you Giana Darling. You never really disappoint. I can’t say that every circumstance within this storyline was to my liking, but the story of Mei & Axe-Man is a complicated, beautiful disaster spanning over a decade of pain, anger, loss, and endurance. There’s a twist and/or revelation at just about every turn so it’s not the type of story one typically absorbs full throttle. I didn’t. I took breaks LOL Okay, I tried but they never lasted long!
This is really all I want to say because I don’t want to give you any more plot points. There’s no way Giana (possibly with a huge team of betas helping her coordinate this tangled web lol) didn’t pour buckets of her sweat and tears to put together this…this… I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO CALL IT #sendhelp
WAIT, I do have more to say. I mean aside from the fact that I really loved the narration!! Cindy Kay was perfect as Mei. Seriously, perfection! Scott Rose is actually new-to-me with this audiobook and I’ll definitely be putting him in the one-click column in the future, but he lacked something that I can’t pin-point exactly. Maybe a little more grit to his voice? Like I said, I don’t know exactly, but he wasn’t a perfect Axe-Man for me *shrug* And as I’ve mentioned already, 18 hours is a loooooooong time!
Okay, about what I wanted to add … It was a bit difficult for me to connect to the romance between Mei & Axe-man and I think that mainly stems from the fact that that didn’t really began until we were waaaaaaay into the book so that was a bit of a bummer for me. On the flip side of bummer, I was ecstatic at all the cameos from past characters!!
So, overall, find about 3 to 5 hours to cut from this ridiculously well thought out storyline and you’ve got yourself a 5++ star story, but alas, that hasn’t happened yet so strong 4 stars it is! :)

Dark and Intense!
This is the seventh book in The Fallen Men, a series of interconnected stories. This is a full length novel. This story is dark, complex, emotional, intense, raw, and captivating, filled with misunderstandings, angst, action, suspense, and twists and turns. The characters are amazing. I liked Mei, AxeMan (Henning), and his stepdaughter Cleo. Mei is strong, fierce and loyal. Axe is enigmatic, handsome, and protective. Cleo is beautiful, and smart. The relationship/friendship between Cleo and Mei is unique and beautiful. This is a great age-gap, forbidden, and slow burn romance. Scott Rose and Cindy Kay did an excellent job bringing this story to life.
