Summary

Jack's a retired ex-cop from New York, seeking the simple life in Cherringham. Sarah's a Web designer who's moved back to the village find herself. But their lives are anything but quiet as the two team up to solve Cherringham's criminal mysteries.

This compilation contains episodes 1 - 3: MURDER ON THAMES, MYSTERY AT THE MANOR and MURDER BY MOONLIGHT.

Here Jack and Sarah investigate a suicide in the River Thames - or was it murder? They investigate an "accidental" fire with deadly consequences, and they nab the culprit behind the Rotary Club choir poisoning.

Cherringham is a series à la Charles Dickens, with a new mystery thriller released each month. Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby. Each of the self-contained episodes is a quick listen for the morning commute, while waiting for the doctor, or when curling up with a hot cuppa.

For fans of Agatha Christie's "Miss Marple series", Lilian Jackson Braun's "The Cat Who series", Caroline Graham's "Midsomer Murders", and the American TV series "Murder She Wrote", starring Angela Lansbury.

Co-authors Neil Richards (based in the UK) and Matthew Costello (based in the US), have been writing together since the mid 90's, creating content and working on projects for the BBC, Disney Channel, Sony, ABC, Eidos, and Nintendo to name but a few. Their transatlantic collaboration has underpinned scores of TV drama scripts, computer games, radio shows, and - most recently - the successful crime fiction series Cherringham.

The narrator of the audiobook, Neil Dudgeon, has been in many British television programmes including the roles of "DCI John Barnaby" in "Midsomer Murders" and "Jim Riley" in "The Life of Riley".

Too cosy for me

I love classic crime stories like Miss Maple so I thought I’d give this a try but I had to realise that I am not quite old enough for cosy crime. I found it really quite boring, with no psychological insight into the characters or the crimes, no twists or clever sleuthing. The narrator is quite good in his delivery but the volume of his voice goes really up and down so I found it really hard to listen to in the car because it sometimes became inaudible and other times too loud.

Exactly what it says - cozy

This series is neither deep or too complicated, but I still loved it. Why? It is exactly what it promises - cozy. Perfect for those days when you need to relax your brain and just listen to a cozy little crmie story - or three. The dynamic between the retired cop from NY and the single mom from Cherringham is deligthful, and even though the stories are hardly deep, they still entertain. This is for those of us who like Midsomer Murders, Agatha Christie and a steaming hot cup of tea.

Cosy and enjoyable

I stumbled across these books entirely by accident but was immediately happy.

A comforting but gripping book to listen to with better intrigue than some full crime novels I’ve read. This was a beautifully developed story with a wonderful narrator.

I definitely recommend for anyone who would like to sink into a soothing bath of comfortable crime and mystery.

New to Series

Bough for a gap between Christmas and new year after reading the Christmas edition of Cherringham,
I really enjoyed this, its light listening and if you like midsummer murders and the Cotswold mysteries by Rebecca Tope you will love this - easy 6 hour stories - highly recommended

I loved Neil Dudgeon's narration!

The stories were great....not violent, but gentle murders, if there is such a thing! 🤣 Good, believable characters and the wonderful Neil Dudgeon narrating. Loved it.

Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation

Cherringham - A Cosy Crime Series Compilation which consists of the first three books of this series. Thoroughly enjoyable just our UK Enid Blyton’s Famous Five & Secret Seven series except these are for grownups with no Timmy the dog and nothing too horrific. Stories with a start, middle and ending. Very nice for a change and I especially liked ‘the Yank’ as he adds a quirk of humour to them. I will be getting the next compilation.
