About this listen

2145 A.D. (93 A.T.)

Two alpha males, too busy saving humans, to be romantic.

Cian's been trying his damndest to deny the pull towards the moon but failed. Together with his best friend and companion, his Anubis, Rotty, they spent their time studying space flight and engineering. He even picked up the nickname General and was on a mission to get to the lunar surface. Even though he is a sourpuss, galore, envying Eryn and Ivan's marriage from a distance, they still support and care deeply about him. So much so, that as soon as the first prototype, Spacecar, was ready, they had taken it for a joyride with Cian. They discovered a city covered by a gigantic plexiglass dome, much like Phoenix's pre-doomsday. The Disciples of the Anunnaki have created a new monstrosity...

Now, Cian has his hands full and has to save a bunch of stupid humans before he can finally woo his mate, who is oblivious to him.

Eryn brings a stranger, a tall, dark and mysterious handsome male with the weirdest yellow eyes, on board. He might or might not be a friend, but step aside, Cian wasn't wasting his time on him. He wanted his mate. He wanted the webbed toes and the ache in his chest to disappear.

Cian's Song has explicit and graphic depictions of a quadruple amputee prisoner, off-the-page mention of non-consensual sexual acts, cannibalism, and imprisonment. It is unsuitable for young and sensitive listeners or anyone offended by gay sex.

A listen to really savour

I CANT WAIT for the next book!

This book really ties up so many different parts of the story introduced in New Beginnings and Eryn King of the Brawl - it was SO clever! I have never been so torn between rushing to find out more and yet wanting to take longer to really savour the story.

I really liked Eryn King of the Brawl but I loved this more - it was great to experience Cian (and Ivan and Eryn too) as more mature adults than they were in the last instalment. I really loved seeing more of Cian as a character and also getting to see him finally get his own happily ever after (or at least for now, Kashel Char never really truly makes me feel safe about any of these couples - I’m forever concerned that they might die after the last book!!)

I loved all of the detail of Greyrack and the movement of the story away from Phoenix in this book. Char’s imagination is amazing, the thought process that must go into this world building is amazing - how science could’ve developed to preserve life in a different manner to that of Phoenix, the Zelk - all fascinating! However, I was devastated that Leo had to die, I really loved him as a character and I had real hope that he might make it to Phoenix and their advanced medical care - i had all the ugly tears, even though it was written really quite beautifully to memorialise him as a hero.

And of course, as in every book I adored Lassiter and all of the completely random, yet fascinating and often quite funny anecdotes that come with every chapter!

An absolutely amazing listen and performed brilliantly by the narrator again.

I want more!

Narration 5 ⭐️
Book 5 ⭐️
I actually started the book again when it was done. Yes it was that good and masterfully written. This was well thought out and so vividly written. Can’t wait for the next one! Chewing my nails. I have no idea what Kashel Char is going to come up with next. Anxiously waiting.

A sci-fi rollercoaster and I love it!

This is not a book to listen to as something in the background, believe me I tried. Half way through I started over to really listen. Because I wanted to understand and follow the story building with all its twists and turns.
Kashel takes us on an exciting journey in time and space. There are a lot of characters, places and even times to keep in mind and figure out how they connect with each other and when. It’s smart and fun but maybe just a little too complex, at least for me. But the whole series is an interesting take on the apocalypse theme.
With that said, I really like the book and I’m looking forward to Ish’s story.
And the narration is perfect!
