About this listen

Katy Marks has worked hard for years to make partner at her law firm and be accepted in a man’s world. She hasn’t had much time for play. Now she has a stalker, one of the firm’s partners who hopes to entice her to gain promotion by sleeping with him. Backed into a corner, she grabs an unexpected opportunity. She wards off his unwanted advances by plastering herself against the sexy man leaning casually against the wall outside her uncle’s gym.

Rafe Wesson is stunned by one look at the sexy woman so totally out of place in the gym and finds himself flattened by his best friend and sparring partner. Scrambling to ensure he gets a chance to speak with her, he instead finds himself KO’d by a kiss that rocks his world and hardens him in all the right places.

Katy isn’t Rafe’s type. She’s far too innocent. Besides, she’s the gym owner’s niece. But two dates don’t dampen his desire or release her from his thoughts. Rafe has personal rules against sleeping with a woman before they are fully informed about his dominant ways. But Katy is testing his patience. She wants him, but he fears she won’t be as persistent when she finds out about his preferred lifestyle.

Rafe tries to step away from her, but he can’t ignore the unknown threat that stalks her, and time is running out. Someone wants Katy dead. And Rafe wants Katy...very much alive.

The devil you do or the devil you don't

Any additional comments?

For mature readers only!
This story is very different from most BDSM stories - which I am not a fan of. The fact that - for once, the girl makes an informed choice which has in no means been influenced by the dominating man, is exactly the reason why I read this to the end and also gave it 5 stars.
The undeniable attraction of the two characters and his struggle to stay away because of the differences in their lifestyles warmed my heart and won me over.
There is real danger and the two of them are thrown together for better or for worse.
Knowing that all the men in this series are part of the BDSM scene makes it unlikely that I will read the rest of the series. I am tempted to read the next book in the series after the way this one ended but not sure if I will finish it. Check my review on Perv, later to see what I thought and whether I finished it.

Truly woeful.

Would you try another book written by Becca Jameson or narrated by Annie Chapman?

I would have to hear that the author had learnt something from writing this book, as this one was pretty poor on a lot of levels for me.

What could Becca Jameson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The book was quite short, and could have been longer and better if the author had been more descriptive with the sex scenes. Also, it was quite slow burning. The first half of the book was pretty dull.

I also hated the Dom in this book. I'd advise any sub to run away from a guy like this. He withholds information - a lie of omission - and breaks multiple rules of his own making. If you can't trust him to keep to his own rules how would you trust him to respect your rules, limits and safe word?

I hated the lame subplot of the stalker. It's far to cliché a plot that is used far too often as a drama in romance novels.

The speed of the relationship also bugged me. Yes, you do need to condense romance in a novel, but I'm tired of the rather unrealistic romances books feel the need to push down our throats. It is rare that you'd have people popping marriage proposals within a couple of weeks of knowing someone. I'm not saying that happens in this one, but I am saying it is yet another novel that rushes a romance past what you'd see in reality, and why do we need to do this? Letting people imagine how their life would progress after finding their are happy as a couple would be fine, and rushing a pretty bow just feels forced.

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Annie Chapman?

I don't know who I would have cast, but not this narrator. Her male lead force is bland and monotone for most of the time making him sound like a robot and her female lead voice sounds like an eight-year-old-girl at times, and certainly when she is being submissive. And I'm hoping not many would find that a turn on - I certainly didn't.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Come?

Not sure what I'd cut, but I'd want to put a bit more heat into the first half of the book and make the descriptive writing for the sex scenes longer and more expressive. While some of the scenes could have been quite hot I felt they were let down by a lack of depth to the experience. Paint me a better picture with more words. The scenes at times felt a little like a sketch drawing rather than a masterpiece.
