Summary

Catherine Mae Blackston is missing. She is not the first.

While investigating Blackston’s recent activities, FBI Agent Jeremy Winter stumbles upon a string of missing persons within state parks. Unable to convince his boss that Blackston’s disappearance is anything other than a lost hiker, Winter joins forces with a local police officer to continue the search.

As the clues mount, a dark figure from Jeremy’s past emerges with an ultimatum - one that could force him out of the bureau. Afraid that his girlfriend, fellow agent Maggie Keeley, will be dragged into a high-stakes political game, he delays his decision. But as the tally of missing persons increases, Winter closes in on the unlikeliest of suspects.

The bodies are out there.

He just has to find them before his past catches up with him.

Good book

I wasn't sure at first as the narrator sounded a bit like an AI bot but once I'd got a little way in I started to enjoy it. I will be listening to the next one.

Page turner

Story held my interest, more so than many I’ve read in this genre that have received good reviews. Great narration.

Awsome

Brilliant. A well constructed plot. Totally new view of a serial killer. A page turner.

Good story, poor performance

Review

Captivating story. But the narration is one of those he worst I have ever encountered. Monotonous voice. The countless changes in tone and loudness are annoying. Sounds like the recording was paused or retaken. the parts don’t match. Also poor
Impersonating, hard to distinguish: recognise characters.

Painful narration - couldn’t finish it

I think the book is probably pretty good, but the narration is torturous to listen to. So many pauses, drawn out words, all lines and characters read with the same annoying inflections - not an enjoyable experience

Narrated by Siri

Cracking story but I think it was read by Siri, at times it’s like they just added a sentence a few years later.

Good freebie

I did wonder if I was going to stick with this book.. I did find the narrator a bit stilted but soon got into his performance and was pleasantly surprised by the story line.

Got me hook line & sinker

Loved this book, on tenterhooks all the way through. Stayed up all night to finish it, even though the narrator sounded like he had to record and insert words on regular occasions (especially at the beginning of the book).

Stick with it

Couldn’t get into it at the start, found it boring but I’m pleased I stayed with it. I ended up enjoying the book & will be reading the next one.
