About this listen

Religion's decline in the modern world turns out to be a myth.

Christianity is the most widespread global belief system and promises to remain so well into the future. But for many educated Westerners, biblical Christianity is a dangerous idea - challenging some of their deepest beliefs.

Channeling state-of-the-art research, personal stories, and careful biblical study, Confronting Christianity explores 12 questions that keep many of us from considering faith in Christ. Look more closely, McLaughlin argues, and the reality of suffering, the complexity of sexuality, the desire for diversity, the success of science, and other seeming roadblocks to faith become signposts. Jesus becomes not a relic from the ancient world but our modern world's best hope.

confronting Christianity

although I expected more from this audible, I would like to say I really enjoyed listening to this audible. Author has touched on the most important questions we as humans ask every day of our lives. I also bought the ebook with audible for better understanding and highlight parts of the book. I enjoyed it very much

Thank you Rebecca

Very honest and challenging. I'm dyslexic so would not have even tried to read the whole book. It was brilliant ‼️

Pretty close to perfect

As close to perfection as any scientific/theological and philosophical work as I have read. The arguments and insights rank among the works of Hitchens, Lewis and Tolstoy. Thank you Rebecca

A great journey of exploration.

Thoughtful, challenging and surprising, I found this book lit up paths that I believe most people could follow and find satisfying answers to the questions asked. I was made to feel uncomfortable but then given hope. I thoroughly recommend this to anyone who desires to explore answers to these profound questions.
Very good to have the author reading it herself. This felt like a work of love.

A well worth modern look into why Christianity is more relevant than ever

A much valued listen through. Compelling, fresh and thought-producing book.

If you are willing to listen in to a gifted communicator giving time to unpick some of the common objections thrown in the face of 21st Century Christianity, I think you will find it a valuable listen.

As an already-Jesus-following-Christian you may expect me to say that, but this book covered a number of angles I was less familiar with in a vibrant and easy to follow fashion. I tremendously valued listening to this and found many points I had never considered or did not have an answer to - this book will be my staple for suggesting to inquisitive friends for a good while.

An accessible apologetic book

This is a well thought through apologetic book which address some of the biggest arguments against Christianity - but it's not ivory towered but earthed in reality. It has a refreshing honesty which seeks to open up dialogue on these issues with integrity and the implications of many of the conclusions are contrasted against their outworking in our lives. Christians will find it empowering, sceptics and open minded atheists are likely to find it thought provoking and closed minded atheists will probably just steer well clear of its many challenges to their worldview.

Well written and thoughtful.

Really enjoyed how the author married detailed apologetic argument with a very readable style, including relatable cultural references.
