About this listen
coz-en (kuz-uhn): verb. Trick or deceive. Obtain by deception.
She was named most appropriately.
Cozen Taylor has more than earned her place as one of North America’s most successful thieves. Her name is whispered among criminal elite as the go-to thief when someone needs a heist. She has never failed.
A call from the Miami-based Astor family could change all that with a job that seems almost impossible to complete. The mark should be simple - a stolen family heirloom, the man who has kept it hidden for more than 20 years, and six months to return the piece to its rightful owners.
Nothing is ever that easy.
Three-hundred million for a successful heist. No smart thief would turn the offer down. Cozen didn’t expect a complication like him to put a kink in her plans, though. Sargon Makri - tall, dark, gorgeous, and entirely dangerous. For her life, her heart, and for the success of the heist.
The last thing Cozen needs to be thinking about is Sargon and how she can get him into her bed...especially when he just happens to be her mark’s bodyguard. The thrill of the job has never been more addicting to Cozen, and she will risk everything to make the heist a success.
But at what cost?
From author Bethany-Kris comes a whole new world. A North American network full of criminals battling to stay on top and painting the streets red in war as they dabble in the game of betrayal. Malicious, cunning, forbidden, and violent - welcome to the empires and badlands.

Steamy!!
Cozen was an interesting story.
She was a thief hired to still an heirloom for a powerful family from their enemy.
She manages to infiltrate this enemy and from there on in the plot thickens and things get hot between her and the marks bodyguard.
I loved the narrators voice. It was so soothing I was sorry the book ended.
I was really happy with the twist at the end.
Very clever and no cliffhanger.

Cozen *****
New author and narrator for me and they both were exceptional.
Loved the book. It kept me interested the whole time and never even saw the ending coming.
Great job on the narration and was always able to distinguish if it was a male or female who was speaking.
Highly recommend.

Intense
Cozen was a great female character. She was smart and bad a$$. So much pressure from so many different angles. High intensity story with some crazy chemistry with the bodyguard. I never saw the twist at the end coming. Absolutely loved it. This story will stick with me for awhile! Excellent narrator!!

interesting book about finding love during a caper
This is the first book I've read/listened to from the author and I really enjoyed it. There are a couple of twists in this book; this book is full of intrigue and romance and I was waiting to see how the heroine and the hero would overcome some of their challenges. The heroine, Cozen, is also really quite smart and powerful and you can never go wrong with a strong heroine! Sargon is an excellent and tough mercenary like character who meets Cozen when she's hired to steal (back) a ruby ring from Jett, a mobster like character. They fall in lust/love and they have to figure out how to balance that with their jobs. It's an interesting ruse and I have to say, the author introduced a twist I actually never saw coming!
The narrator, Connor Goff, did a great job, with good pacing. Since it wasn't written as a first-person POV, it worked out fine to only have a male narrator. I enjoyed his story telling. I received this book from #AudioBookObsessionReviewers and this is my unbiased review.

It was ok
The ending kinda ruined the whole book for me, because after the twist, you see the story differently, wich was intended I assume. Bu that create too many plot holes and answer too little questions. Unfortunately I can't rip off the ending from my head, I just can't ignore entirely, but I'm rating this regardless the twist.
I thought the pace of the book was too slow. Little to no action happened, too many details and way too many inner dialog (that due to the twist, was completely pointless and even more unnecessary). If the book was a few hours shorter, I would have like it more because, it didn't have that much story to tell, I think at least.
I can't denied Sargon and Cozen were amazing in bed. I don't actually care for s*x in my MF books, I find them boring. This one though... OMG was the best MF s*x scenes I have ever read! It was dirty, sexy, rough yet tender. But putting this aside, I was actually rooting for Cozen and Jett, because I didn't know why she chose Sargon. She met them both at the same time and she find both of them attractive, but the insta-lust was direct to Sargon. and Jett was nothing but kind to her, both were obsessed with her. Both him e Sargon did shady business... I really didn't get it, until the very ending.
Overall, I had to suspend my disbelief more times than I would like, but I didn't struggle to finish. It was a nice listen, just could be better if it was shorter. Knowing about the twist kept me going, but I think I would finished even I didn't know.
This is a new-to-me narrator. His voice is sexy, deep and growly during the s*x scenes. His pace was perfect, in my pinion. I like he didn't rush between the speeches, some narrators tend to speak all in once and doing so, make me tired. I didn't find very differences between the voices, though. Sargon, Jet, Cozen look all the same.
