About this listen

Don't date your bodyguard.

It was the one rule he had to break.

Maximoff Hale is a force of nature. A ship unwilling to be steered. Headstrong, resilient, and wholly responsible - the 22-year-old alpha billionaire can handle his unconventional life. By noon, lunch can turn into a mob of screaming fans. By two, his face is all over the Internet. Born into one of the most famous families in the country, his celebrity status began at birth. He is certified American royalty.

When he's assigned a new 24/7 bodyguard, he comes face-to-face with the worst case scenario: being attached to the tattooed, MMA-trained Yale graduate who's known for "going rogue" in the security team - and who fills 1/3 of Maximoff's sexual fantasies.

Twenty-seven-year-old Farrow Keene has one job: protect Maximoff Hale. Flirting, dating, and hot sex falls far, far out of the boundary of his bodyguard duties and into "termination" territory. But when feelings surface, protecting the sexy-as-sin, stubborn celebrity becomes increasingly complicated. Together, boundaries blur, and being exposed could mean catastrophic consequences for both.

Damaged Like Us can be listened to and enjoyed without listening to any of Krista and Becca's other novels.

One of the best MM books I listened to in ages

Having been a huge fan of MM romance books for past year and getting hit or miss with some I decided to read this after recommendation by another author and I wasn't disappointed.

I'm not going to explain plot or what's going on in the book. But what I will say, I loved how their feeling deepened during the time, as I personally struggle with love at first sight thrope. I loved how the story developed and how the style of the book was different from anything I have read before and was refreshing to read.

I enjoyed reading about all members of the family even before I have realised how many books there is in the series. And I for sure will be reading/listening to all books out and about to come out.

It's been a while since I was excited about series as much as this one. Probably not since I have read Confession series by Ella Frank.

Good story

I liked this story and the characters were adorable. The narrator was good too.
I found the title odd because nobody was “damaged”. The title was just an article title that was mentioned once and it wasn’t significant enough to warrant being the title.
Didn’t change the fact this was a good story,

The Grass is Always Greener

This is a very well written and narrated story of the lives of the rich and famous. But being rich and famous doesn't bring the freedom and comfort you would think money and notoriety would bring. This is an intriguing story that shines the light on one rich and famous, who simply cannot sneeze without the paparazzi making it front page headlines. Follow the individual characters and what they have to do to avoid the press making their sex addiction gay affairs with their body guard becoming top news stories

Shift between narrators is kinda weird

I enjoyed this book. I didn’t like the shift in narrator at first, it was kinda weird how the characters had different voices depending on which narrator read them. I had a hard time getting used to the voice of the guy who reads Farrow, and his portrayal of the other characters, specifically how he made Maximoff sound kinda childish and his female character voices sounded a bit weird and off. I got used to it throughout the book though and it was still a good listen.

sizzling chemistry, forbidden mm romance

I really enjoyed this forbidden mm romance, the first book I've read by these authors.

Maximoff is a mega celebrity thanks to his parents fame and seems to take it all in his stride, but the more we got to know him, the more we saw how much weight he holds on his 22 year old shoulders. He's so protective of his family, like the superhero's he's adored since childhood. His new bodyguard is 24/7 and immediately tips him off kilter, but Farrow is also a force of nature and with their banter, humour, competitive natures and sizzling chemistry, these two were pure fire!! I loved them both.

Great story, written with a lot of feeling. What Maximoff, his adorable best friend/cousin Jane and the rest of his family goes through is a horrendous breach of privacy and decency. If that is what fame brings, I'd be no thankyou! With drama, secrets, tension, cruel rumours and some super steamy scenes, this kept my attention throughout.

I listened to the audio, both male narrators were very good, although it took me a few chapters to get used to the energy in Farrow's voice. Am looking forward to the next book in their story.

More like gay porn!

I consider myself pretty worldly wise but omg, I have learnt so much about gay sex!
The story was a bit lame, think it was probably a dodgy script for a gay porn film, could have flipped the story on it's head (excuse the pun) and it could be lesbian sex story or straight couple sex story...... it's basically about SEX!
So if you are easily offended don't read this book, but then again, isn't it funny that everyone who complains about being offended always manages to see the end of the film or read right to the end of the book so they really can be soooooo offended......

I love this story so much

What made the experience of listening to Damaged Like Us the most enjoyable?

I just love the flow of the story Krista and Becca pull the reader/listener in and take you on one hell of a ride.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Both Maximoff and Farrow they are great together and are both Alpha so they don't give in to each other which makes for a fantastic story. I love all the other characters and they all add something to the story.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I love when Maximoff is asking his dad and uncles for advise on lube and Farrow walks in. Poor Maximoff is mortified but it's so funny.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

when they came out to everyone I found very touching.

Any additional comments?

Another great book by the Ritchie sisters. I can't wait to see how the story unfolds.
