About this listen

In the shadow of Diane Fallon's new forensic lab in Georgia, a land survey crew had discovered three bodies hanging in an isolated patch of woods.

The sensational case has aroused the interest of the media, unnerved the locals and inspired a gruesome game between the killer and Diane.

It begins with taunting e-mails and chilling phone calls. Where it leads is a dangerously personal investigation as each bizarre clue brings Diane closer to a heartless betrayal and a desperate man's obession for justice.

knowledgable but tedious

The genre of the forensic thriller is fast growing in popularity - but unfortunately knowing about a subject is not necessarily the same as being able to write a story about it! In this case the plot grinds on an on - the old cliche of 'once you put this book down you'll never be able to pick it up' springs to mind! Very disapointing in terms of a plot which rarely holds the attention.

Yawn....

Who knows, maybe this is an interesting read. I usually enjoy Beverley Connor's forensic novels.
In this case though, I had to give up listening. The narrator sounds as if she herself was falling asleep - I certainly was, listening to her droning on and on in the same monotonous voice. Sometimes there are long gaps in her reading and I even checked that my headphones weren't faulty.
Most of the characters sound alike, which is confusing. Or they change suddenly, the effect is that you never know who is saying what.
Anyhow, I think the book is your usual forensic crime story, but I will now buy the book to read the second half. Any more of this and I might never come out of a coma again - zzzz......
