About this listen
At first, the great Were revelation seems to go well - then the horribly mutilated body of a were-panther is found outside Merlotte's. Though Sookie never cared that much for the victim, no one deserves such a horrible death, so she agrees to use her telepathic talent to track down the murderer.
But what Sookie doesn't realise is that there is a far greater danger than this killer threatening Bon Temps: a race of unhuman beings, older, more powerful and far more secretive than the vampires or the werewolves is preparing for war....

Another great story and really well narrated
Any additional comments?
I have got really sucked in to the stories about our heroine -depite being pure fantasy the characters are so well constructed and believable. Sookies adventures seem to also follow a plausible path and the narration by Johanna Parker really brings the books to life - this one is no exception. Its a bit darker than some of the predecessors and although there is some humour this one doesnt have many laugh out loud moments. But its still a gripping listen as you wonder what is going to happen to poor Sookie and her friends (and enemes ) next.
Its a real page turner - or whatever the Audio equivalent is
I do find the books much better than the TV series and a great way to while away the hours whilst driving up and down the motorways

Fairies, love, and war
What about Johanna Parker’s performance did you like?
She has the perfect Sookie voice and I look forward to hearing her beautiful deep south accent.
Any additional comments?
Sookie starts out pretty happy in this book because her relationship with Eric Northman finally gets back to the bedroom. Her happiness doesn’t last long and when she finds her sister-in-law dead and crucified in the parking lot she knows it’s bound to be followed by more heartache, and she’s not wrong.
The fairies take a prominent role in this book and not in a good way. Sookie has to sharpen her tools, literally, and is dragged into the war between her fairy grandfather and his enemies. This instalment of the Stackhouse novels is a highly emotional one and full of action, violence, and loss. Keep the tissues handy.

Dead and Gone
This is the ninth and most recent addition to the Sookie Stackhouse series. I think this is perhaps the most powerful book in the series and certainly the darkest. The fairies are determined to eradicate any humans with their blood, and that, it goes without saying, includes are hapless heroin. In such a situation, not everyone will emerge smiling, and Sookie may be damaged in more ways than one. As usual, Charlaine Harris is in fine form, and I'm now left begging for book 10 released next year.

Dead and Gone
I read the first three and have books 4 to 9 on audio. They are so good, I love the stories and the characters. This has been the best, as usual I was gripped from start to finish, you never know what will happen to Sookie next. I am always sad to reach the end and cannot wait for the next one. Johanna Parker is exceptional, she brings all the characters to life, brilliant choice for audio

Truly an experience not to be missed!
Any additional comments?
Everything I read I remember, everything I hear I remember...
So as you can imagine I will consume a book and move on never to return, this series of books however are the only ones I have gone back through multiple times. This is because the characters are so intricately designed they become real, the story lines while based in fantasy from the off never fail to surprise and thoroughly delight. I have never had such an all round almost tactile experience from something that I've read to make me come back to them so often and with that first time read anticipation it's nuts because I remember every word already.
They are utterly hilarious, full of blood-pumping action and downright hot in equal measure with so many more facets that will have you also coming back time and again.
The books do not copy the T.V. Show plot line they are completely different the anchors for both being the familiarity of the main characters but both being superb in their own ways.
A definite BUY IT NOW! you certainly will not regret it.

Very entertaining
This book is very entertaining and I could not stop until I had read the whole book. I loved the mix of characters and the plot of the book. You can listen to the book whilst basking in the sun in the park or whilst taking a walk. Absolutely beautiful.
