About this listen

WSJ bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills delivers a gripping, enemies-to-lovers, secret admirer, high school romance.

The rich and popular Sharks rule at prestigious, ivy-covered Camden Prep. Once upon a time, I wanted to be part of their world - until they destroyed me.

The last thing I expected was an anonymous love letter from one of them.

Please. I hate every one of those rich jerks for what they did to me. The question is, which Shark is my secret admirer?

Knox, the scarred quarterback.

Dane, his twin brother.

Or Chance, the ex who dumped me...

Dear Ava,

Your eyes are the color of the Caribbean Sea.

Wait. That’s stupid.

What I really mean is, you look at me and I feel something real.

It’s been ten months since you were here, but I can’t forget you.

I’ve missed seeing you walk down the hall.

I’ve missed you cheering at my football games.

I’ve missed the smell of your hair.

And then everything fell apart the night of the kegger.

Don’t hate me because I’m a Shark.

I just want to make you mine.

Still.

Not part of any other series. Dark high school romance. Recommended for 18+.

Beautifully written and narrated love story

Full of heartbreak this story of how Ava and Knox develop deep feelings for each other while trying to deny it to themselves and their friends.
The opening chapter was certainly the hook that drew me in and if I wasn't so desperately in need of sleep I would have listened to this story straight through.
Top marks go to Zachary and Savannah for such excellent narration.
I highly recommend this audiobook and will be listening to it again. ❤❤❤❤❤

Wow! Great story.

TW given we start this story with the aftermath of a rape. Having started like that you’d be forgiven for thinking this is an angst ridden depressing tale, but you’d be wrong. Yes there is some angst, and there is some drama but there is also some light moments and even some laugh out loud moments along the way.

Ava, despite having had a rocky life, isn’t a victim, she’s a survivor. She has no father, a rubbish mother, but is doing her best to look after herself and her brother, whilst at the same time having to cope with what happened to her in a sea of victim blaming. Shes strong, and independent, and sassy, and driven.

Knox, on the outside has everything going for him, he’s the QB, he’s rich, everyone either wants to be him or be with him. However the scar he bares on his face isn’t the only scar he carries, as his life hasn’t been all sunshine and roses. He’s drawn to Ava from the get go, and is one of the few people who believes her when she says she has been raped.

There are various threads to this, and yes it’s set in high school with all that entails, but it isn’t a childish story.

Narration was great with two of the very best in the business and two of my favourites.

Well worth a credit.

Loved it

Loved that they got both a male and female narrator. I would definitely recommend this book.

Would have benefited from duet narration

Being completely honest, I came across this audiobook as I was looking for books narrated by Zachery Webber and decided to give it a go. If you're also like me and are mainly interested in the book because of ZW, then I would suggest giving this book a miss as he's not in it all the much. Savannah Peachwood was ok, but for me personally, I didn't enjoy her 'male' voices, that's why I think this probably could have been a better audiobook if it was given the duet treatment. I also found that sometimes she over-exaggerated her expressions and emotions.

The story was ok, enemies to lovers - although it wasn't hard to figure out who the letter came from. It was also quite obvious how this story would end. One thing I didn't realise, as I don't think it was mentioned in the summary, is that the story surrounds a topic which some might find it to be a trigger.
