About this listen

Sparks fly when a sexy rock star is reunited with his small town, childhood best friend. With someone trying to tear them apart, can new love survive?

People think they know Jase Connors: former front man for Kings Quarters, successful solo artist, consummate playboy. They’re unaware of his humble roots, unmatched generosity, and affection for his family. But Jase is tired from road life. Tired of road life. Just plain tired. He’s seeking solace and someone who likes him for who he is and not what he became.

Cami Ossining harbored a massive crush on her childhood best friend Jason, who ghosted her to pursue rock star fame. Spunky, albeit lonely, Cami remains in her small hometown, selflessly caring for everyone around her.

When his beloved high school teacher passes away, Jase returns to his Midwestern childhood home to honor the teacher’s final wishes. And as Cami is forced to work with Jase planning the memorial, old regrets start to fade, replaced by new feelings and emerging desires.

What happens when someone trying to come between them tests their rekindled friendship and new-found love for one another?

If you love steamy rock stars, small-town romances, second chances, forced proximity, and combustible chemistry rolled into a fast-paced story, scroll up now to buy.

Dear Future Self is the second in the Starfish: A Rock Star Romance series but can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Short of length Tall of character

All good things come in small packages! This spin off novella is here to prove just that! Power packed from start to finish. Lisa Becker writes a corker of a spin off from Starfish, which I absolutely adored listening to. Tim page and Kelsey Navarro add the narrative characterisation Lisa wrote to perfection. I loved it! I want more!

Short but so sweet

What a fun short story. This book follows Jase Connors, a rockstar, who returns home to attend the memorial for his teacher. I really liked Jase- he was written as a great person, even though he was a bit of a playboy. I loved his family oriented personality. He and Cami were best friends when they were younger but then lost touch. They were reacquainted when he returned and I loved their interaction. Overall, a great short story.

The audiobook was great. Tim Paige was the primary narrator and Kelsey had a cameo. But Tim is excellent, playing multiple characters easily and believably. I loved the narration, which elevated the story.

Rock Star Romance

Dear Future Self by Lisa Becker is a rock star romance novella that I listened to on audio narrated by Tim Paige and Kelsey Navarro.

This book is a novella spin-off of Starfish: A Rock Star Romance that can be read as a stand-alone.

I absolutely love Lisa’s books! I was so excited to know more of the Kings Quarters bandmates love stories. You can’t help but fall in love with Jason and Cami.

Tim and Kelsey did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this novella to anyone who loves Rock Star Romances, Second Chance Romances, or Contemporary Romance.

Second chance friends to lovers

What a cool concept. Write a letter to your future self while you are in high school. I loved the characters. Jase is from the book “Starfish”, he was the lead singer of the band, Kings Quarters. Cami was his best friend in school until he decided he needed to change himself. HEA. Standalone. Love the narration, Tim and Kelsey are amazing! I definitely recommend this book!

Sweet romance

This was not what I was expecting. It’s a sweet romance, which I didn’t think was possible when there is a rockstar involved. It shows that even the rich and famous have feelings. Great narration.

Love this Series, Can't wait for MORE

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions review team. This second book can be listened to/read as a standalone. Lisa does a great job with this story. Jase and Cami are chlidhood best friends. This story doesn't dwell on the "rockstar" persona but in the rekindled, adult romance. Having a favorite teacher pass away and bring them together is a great theme for this story. The narrators are awesome and did an excellent job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story. Looking forward to more books in this series.

A sweet quickie...

I'm not always convinced by short stories as feel that you lose the description and build which are possible with a longer book. But this I didn't feel at all.
I actually chose the book for it's short length as wanted to listen to a quick story and even though this is the second book in a series (And oddly I have book 1 which I haven't yet got to) I didn't feel I had missed anything.

I found the narration was really well done, though did question my sanity at the end as swore it had only listened to Tim Paige throughout! Haha!

Fun, sweet listen! All the feels

Jase - the lead singer of King's Quarters (who we met in Starfish) get a call that his favorite high school teacher has passed away and he's been named in the will.  Upon returning he reconnects with his childhood best friend Cami.  Only problem is...Cami isn't too happy to see Jase.  The sparks fly but sometimes they are too hot.

This second chance romance novella was a perfect follow up to Starfish.

Their favorite high school teacher had each of his students write a letter to their future selfs and this is the premise of the story.  Has Jase fulfilled his dreams?  Has Cami? And since their falling out are they able to reconnect as their favorite teacher always wanted them to?

He was a smart man who made it hard for them to NOT deal with their unfinished business, which led to some ups and down and some cold and HOT moments!

This is a quick, fun, short listen that offers all the feels.  Narration  by Tim Paige and the epilogue by Kelsey Navarro brought the story to life for me.

Great narration

I started this one with super high expectations because I really loved Starfish. Dear Future Self was really good for a novella and it was great to revisit the Starfish characters, however it was still a novella with a much less time to develop the story. The main characters did have a history to build on, but it still came across as more of an insta-love feeling.

Tim Paige was a new-to-me narrator and he did a great job. Kelsey Navarro had a short part and she's one of my favorite narrators so it was fun to hear her voice. I would definitely recommend the audio version.

Love this series!

Jason comes home to the reading of a will from one of his teachers and meets up with his old best friend, Cami. And the sparks fly. Hurt, miscommunications, lust and just good old history meld these two together in a way that only Lisa Becker can bring out. I was captivated by the two. I loved Jase. He is exactly as I picture a famous rock star, a little full of himself, generous but realizing there is more to life. I love Cami. She is secure in her life, loves being a music teacher and knows her feelings. I loved the Girl Scout, give me a box of thin mints any day, and the Dear Future Self letters. It's so much fun to see your past you! It's a quick listen, it's fun, humorous and a great way to spend a couple of hours!

Tim Paige is a fantastic story teller and he brings all the characters to life. He gives Jase the perfect voice. A little cocky, yet very and makes him very believable. He quickly can change to Cami, and bring her feelings to light. Add at the end with some fun with Kelsey Navarro and this novella rocks it!
