Summary

Birnam Wood shall come to Dunsinane....

DI Jade Tanner's new Complex Crimes Unit is finding its feet. DS Mo Uddin is settling into his new Scottish home, Dr Petra McBride has stopped receiving anonymous calls, and Jade is working to support her son over the loss of his dad.

But then a mysterious crime is added to their workload. The body of a young man is discovered at the top of Dunsinane Hill, with soil from Birnam Wood in his pockets.

The two sites are sixteen miles apart, so this is no fluke. Petra and Jade immediately spot the Macbeth reference. And when another body is found at a second location linked to the play, they worry there could be more killings.

Can the team solve the puzzle and work out where the killer will strike next, or will it be too late?

Death and Poetry is the second gripping instalment in the McBride and Tanner series. Perfect for fans of Alex Gray, Val McDermid, and JD Kirk.

Still not sure about this series

This is the second in the series and if I’m honest I’m struggling to get to grip with the main characters. I love Rachael’s other work but don’t think this is her best. Sorry I love Zoe finch and Lesley Clarke and enjoyed the new series with Matt Ballard but mo udden is such a minor part he’s really only a token to string the series together

Not great

I thought I would give this series another go after I noticed it was a new narrator for this book. I wish I hadn't. The narration was again very bad and the story didn't flow, I gave up half way through and listened to another book then had another attempt to finish it, which I did, only because I was painting at the time and couldn't be bothered to find another book.

Narrator spoilt it

I gave up halfway through the first one of this series because of the narrator. I almost gave up on this one, but it was only Rachel's writing that got me through.

Jan Cramer does such a good job with the other books, and really conveys the characters well. This narrator was not good at accents and even worse at maintaining the story, or building a sense of excitement. When the ending happened, it was quite a surprise as there had been little indication it was on its way.

Sorry Rachel, I need to stick to Zoe or Leslie books from now on, anything that is narrated by someone with a more interesting voice.
