What a treat!
WHAT IT'S ABOUT
When a farmer is found dead in his own pumpkin patch, Abby and her tenant Tripp have to find the real killer before an innocent man is put away for life.
MY TAKE
I noticed this book in an ebook promotional email and was curious. I was glad to see it had an audiobook and snapped it up. What a fun story! Alexis Morgan has a talent for writing engaging characters and make me care for them right away. The town is full of fun and interesting people. I love her dog! And Tripp. And the police chief Page. And Ben. Seriously, I could go on. The mystery was solid and how it wove itself in and out of Abby's regular life was well done. The ending was a surprise.
The narrator Coleen Marlo did a wonderful job!
Now I'm off to get the first book in the series.

Return to Snowberry Creek
Oh, how good it is to be back in Snowberry Creek with a brand new mystery! Ever since I finished listening to Death by Committee, I have been keenly awaiting this second installment, Death by Jack-o’-lantern, to help kick off the Autumnal season. I was not disappointed.
First off, coming back to the community of Snowberry Creek felt much like revisiting old friends. The characters are so lovely and charming that you cannot help but develop a fondness for all of them. Although continuing from the first book, I still have a personal preference for Tripp (book crush?).
In terms of the narration, it was wonderful to have Coleen Marlo back to bring the text to life; I think she did a fantastic job in both books 1 & 2 and have no complaints about her voicing style.
However, while I loved Death by Jack-o’-lantern, I still have a few aspects of the books that irked me slightly such as the fact that Abby tends to be a bit on the defensive/petty side sometimes which was a bit annoying for me; also, similar to book one, I had the killer pegged fairly early on.
Overall, aside from a few minor details, I thoroughly enjoyed Death by Jack-O'-Lantern and thought that it was a solid follow up to a promising new series of cozy mysteries. I look forward to reading more from Alexis Morgan in the future.
