Summary

Uncover the hidden systems created by the most powerful tech companies in the world that are determined to stop Donald Trump.

Journalist Allum Bokhari has spent four years investigating the tech giants that dominate the Internet: Google, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter. He has discovered a dark plot to seize control of the flow of information, and utilize that power to its full extent - to censor, manipulate, and ultimately sway the outcome of democratic elections. His network of whistleblowers inside Google, Facebook, and other companies explain how the tech giants now see themselves as "good censors", benevolent commissars controlling the information we receive to "protect" us from "dangerous" speech.

They reveal secret methods to covertly manipulate online information without us ever being aware of it, explaining how tech companies can use big data to target undecided voters. They lift the lid on a plot four years in the making - a plot to use the power of technology to stop Donald Trump's reelection.

Wow, what a chilling read

Brilliant, detailed, full of evidence and feedback. Whilst written from a conservative right of centre position, this book should give all people real fear for their personal freedom in the digital world and more broadly. Read it.

Essential to understanding how big tech works.

If you have any interest in how big tech works or are simply wondering why a post got removed this book is for you. It is obviously from a biased perspective but goes a long way to make this clear and backs up any claims with data.

Thought provoking

Excellent book, It certainly has made me think a lot about my online two and throws. It’s scary when you realise how much information these big players have on us.

#Prophetic

This book helps to highlight the danger, hypocrisy and ever-growing power of Big Tech in contemporary society.
Bokhari respects the integrity of his sources and points to mostly credible investigation resources online that anyone can access if they are sceptical about his claims.

In light of recent events and whatever your politics this book is essential reading for anyone who respects democracy and human rights.

I was drawn to this book as I had listened to Allum Bokhari on a podcast discussing the role social media played in taking down content from the New York Post and suspending their account following the alleged Hunter Biden scandal in the run up to the 2020 election.

Some of the claims Bokhari makes are dubious and can be debunked with a little rooting around like the above. Nevertheless, the author is usually on or around the money when highlighting issues, we should all be concerned about. These tech companies are behaving like the East India Trading Company between the 17th and 19th Centuries, and unlike previous colonial actors are far more powerful and organised than their predecessors. Considering how much we all depend on tech we would do well to push back against further encroachments to our personal sovereignty.

I listened to a podcast on Economist Radio in the summer where a data collection company was mining for data in sewage around Amsterdam – the interviewer put it to the guest that the data must be useful for aiding medical and sociological studies… it was apparent that this was not the intention of the company and that their objectives were far more insidious. They are mining information to inform about people’s behaviour and applying the knowledge to voting trends.

It might interest you to know that the following are active accounts on social media. Which you have done far more harm than a certain someone who has been in the news a lot lately: Lashkar-e-Taiba, the CCP, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Babbar Khalsa, David Bahati, and the India Mujahedeen. Additionally, social media played a massive role in the Rohingya genocide in Myanmar – we could go further down this rabbit hole, but you take my point.

Well worth chewing over before the dystopian Orwellian Nanny-State technocracy entirely takes over, I’m off to live in the woods, who’s with me?
