About this listen
Torn between passion and profession, what will he choose?
Losing his brother at a young age sets Carter Idoni's future in motion. Dedicating his life to saving people, Dr. Carter will do anything for his patients. And when the medical center gets taken over by a national network of hospitals, Carter is instantly attracted to the new CEO. Finn Riley may be handsome and rugged, but his icy demeanor is a turnoff for a loving man like Carter.
As the two strong-willed men fight over patient care and procedures, more than their anger heats up. Suddenly, their passion is undeniable and irresistible. But when one night of desire turns to promise, tragedy strikes, threatening to destroy all they've built. Can they find comfort in each other or will the pain ultimately rip them apart?
This 100,000 word steamy first book in the Silver Oak Medical Center series is a stand-alone novel that will pull at your heartstrings. When one man ends up pregnant, the worst happens. You will be cheering for these two lovers as they claw their way back from pain for a future and a family together.

The heart wants what the heart wants!
Let me start by saying that Carter and Finn should not work together. Carter is the sweetest, smartest omega ever who chose an absolute ratfink alpha as his first love. Now he's in his 30s and supposedly past his prime. Finn, the new CEO at Carter's hospital is an awful person, but a comedic delight. He has virtually zero people skills, little idea of the right things to say and do and appalling dress sense. The way he treats Carter at the start is horrible, yet their hormones tell them they need to be together. So, a lot of the book is the slow introduction by Carter of Finn to the real world. By the end, he is a passable human.
I think this book is absolutely brilliant. I was hooked from first word to last whether it was the awfulness of Finn's parents, the spite of Paul, or the plain craziness of Tom. I can't wait for more of this series.
The narration by Corey H. Bennson complements this book in every way possible. His voice is clear yet pacey, and humorous in all the right places.

What is family?
I received this audiobook as an advanced listener.
I haven't read/listened to this book in series order the first being 'Family Law'
What I enjoy about this series is not that is non- shifter omegaverse . although I enjoy such novels, but that it closely follows real life with love and loss, family, friendship. work politics, etc.
Within this tale we meet Omega Carter Idoni,a heart on his sleeve obs gynae doctor who you want on your side along with his supposed anthesis, Alpha CEO Finn Riley, known for his cold demeanour. However, both have masks that they wear.
Carter I loved from the beginning. Finn grew on me once we encounter his parents. Then I'm on the sidelines cheering them on.
I will continue with this series
Corey H Benson narration bring the whole community to life.
