About this listen

Amber's succubus desires are driving her, as well as every man within a five-mile radius, crazy and Irix, the sexy incubus sent to tutor her, isn't helping one bit. Determined to find some balance in her life, as well as get away from his tempting presence, she escapes to visit a college friend in New Orleans.

But the Big Easy is anything but peaceful. Two powerful witch covens are battling for control of the mighty river and the potent ley lines that run through the city. Amber discovers her half-elven heritage may just resolve their differences, but the covens have other, more lethal, ideas. She knows she can restore the elemental energy to balance, but it's not easy to play peacemaker when her succubus side wants to drown the whole city in a tide of lust.

The tensions between the covens aren't her only trouble. There's nowhere Amber can run to escape the siren-call of her demon nature, and nowhere she can run to escape the seductive incubus who won't seem to take no for an answer.

Decent spin off from the Imp series

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this book but a few things are important to note
I dont recommend reading this if you havent read the imp series - at least as far as Elven blood or you will be missing a lot of important background

The story was good but a bit slow to get going
some of the chapters had sex scenes that wouldnt be out of place in a full erotica novel so if you dont like that sort of thing I wouldnt recommend it. Still if you read the Imp series you would know our heroine is half sex demon so that shouldnt be a surprise

There is less humour in this than the imp books as well

The narrator is good - I prefered her to Angela Rysk who narrates the Imp series

I will definitely download book 2 now its just been released - and hope for more in the series

Not Good

I've seen Debra Dunbar recommended on several paranormal fantasy lists. Unfortunately I don't like the narrator for the Imp Series so thought I'd try this instead. It was disappointing. As the heroine in a succubus, it is unsurprising there is a great deal of sex in this novel (orgies, BDSM etc), unfortunately none of this is particularly sexy - partially due to the heroine's own confliction over her own nature. The story is really badly shaped - when events take place that the heroine has been angsting over for the first half of the book - everything she had been worrying about doesn't come to pass. The stakes that we were told were so important just vanish. Our heroine doesn't even comment or react to it. There's NO RESPONSE. No "What does this mean?", not even an "Oh wow I was wrong." She just continues as if she never expected events to play out differently. This would be fine, logical even, if I hadn't listened to HOURS of her fretting and moaning and constantly limiting herself because she expected the opposite outcome. From that point on, my interest waned considerably and I didn't finish the book.
