About this listen
Wyatt Bryant is all kinds of broken.
Wyatt never planned to end up in the middle of nowhere. He was a big city guy, used to bright lights and constant noise. He needed both those things to distract him from the ugly memories of his past and the loneliness he couldn't seem to shake. Now, he is bound for the back roads of Wyoming because his younger brother is beyond worried about him. Wyatt never expected to live his life in the slow lane, and he really didn't see the breathless attraction to a small-town sheriff coming.
Rodie Collins is all kinds of conflicted.
Rodie had long since grown used to the snail's pace of life in Sheridan, Wyoming. He was accustomed to the gossip and malicious grapevine that was common in all small towns. Cruel words and judgmental looks followed him throughout his childhood and made him overly cautious as an adult. He had it easy keeping the peace in Sheridan most days, at least until Wyatt showed up. Rodie couldn't hide his attraction to the sexy former special agent, and there was something about the city slicker that made him want to throw caution to the wind. Rodie loves his job and his hometown, but he may have to pick between what he's always known and Wyatt when push comes to shove and long-held secrets come to light.

Amazing series
Oh my. Jay Crownover does it again. How can she just keep getting better and better? I’m just loving this series, and I’m so so sad that this is the final story following this wonderful group of friends and family. Oh, and don’t get me started on that cover - scrumdiddlyumptious - I love it. I also love a really good M/M romance, and Rodie Collins and Wyatt Bryan are two alpha males that really know how to heat things up, both in and out of the bedroom. Wyatt is so pig headed and stubborn, determined to be independent even while nursing his injuries, it’s also cute how he wants to hate small town Sheriff Rodie, pushing him away at every opportunity. Rodie though is determined to break through Wyatt’s tough exterior, it’s proving difficult though - good job he’s not easily put off. With lots of cameos from all the Warners, I just loved getting to see how they are all doing (Cam in particular). A story filled with love, family and friendship, then there’s the secrets, the homophobes, and the bad guys. Action romance at its best. I loved it. Just do you know, the audio was sooo good, I loved Brad King and John Solo narrating, they were the perfect Wyatt and Rodie.

2.5 stars - dull
I usually really enjoy Jay Crownover books, but this one was a real drag. It’s more about homophobia and small town drama, and no actual action (quite different to earlier books in the series). Very minimal relationship development either. It’s as if the characters ended up together because they were the only other people interested in men, but not because they were actually passionate about each other. The book left me a bit flat.

10 stars!
This is my review on Goodreads and Amazon Kindle:
Wyatt and Rodie were some of my favourite characters from the Getaway series and I couldn't wait to read their story. Now that I read it I want to start it all over again. So yeah, I loved Detour, as expected.
I said it so many time that I am a huge fan of Jay Crownover. I read every single book she published and all of them were the most perfect, amazing, great, fascinating, marvelous, phenomenal, incredible... and maybe I could find some more superlative words I could describe her masterpieces.
5 stars is never enough for any of Jay's book!

I read this book for a second time after just a few months since it was published. I rarely read a book more than once but I loved it so much I just want to start reading it again straight away...
Why is this book so special? The chemistry is unbelievable! Jay is phenomenal! No one can express love and feelings better than her. This book wasn't a fantasy; the author conceived an imaginary world that seems real to me.

What a sweet story
A short but well put together story full of angst, concern, thriving over adversity. But most of all love!
