Eye opening.

Clarified the problem for me, and better yet, offered a practical solution. Interesting read too.

how to find harmony in nowaday's digital chaos

EN: As someone who enjoys spending time alone and taking walks in nature, Cal Newport's "Digital Minimalism" felt like it understood my lifestyle choices. The audiobook talks about the importance of paying attention to things other than our screens, which I found enlightening and validating. Newport suggests some practices that I already do, like spending time alone and being in nature, which recharge me. But I also struggled with some of his stricter suggestions. I worry they might make me feel more isolated, something I've been trying to avoid.
Still, I recommend this audiobook to anyone who's feeling overwhelmed by technology. Newport gives practical advice on how to have a healthier relationship with our devices. It's funny to think about leaving this review on a social media platform, considering the book's message. It reminds me that we need to find a balance with technology. Maybe it's time to listen to Newport's advice and disconnect a bit.

So glad I read this!

If like me you think you haven't got time to listen to this, start with chapter 3, start the 30 day digital declutter and then as if by magic I found I had way more time and listened to the whole book within a few days.
I'm in day 8 so far and the change even so far is incredible. I have so much more time and energy and I'm so much more present in my life and with my family. Highly recommend.

Explains why people are disconnecting

Excellent as always with one minor gripe - the section on Twitter and verified accounts sounds like it was written by a boomer.

Great

A lot of things I was already aware of but I knew that would be the case going into it having already deleted social media etc. Some great insights and a great listen overall. I imagine for someone pondering the decision to disconnect it would be a great persuader. Just do it!

Interesting

Quite an interesting concept, by the end you are ready to make your decision to live a bit differently.

Guy is a real slow reader though and it’s quite a big topic so chuck it on 1.25 first and then 1.5 speed if youre listening to it and you’ll have a much better time.

Wisdom and insight for a more meaningful life

This is my second 'listen' from Cal Newport so you can tell I'm a fan already!
I find his philosophy and evidence compelling, and it inspires me in many ways.
I left Facebook a year ago after listening to Deep Work, and I'm no longer on Twitter either. I regularly delete Instagram from my phone. I honestly don't mind.
I especially liked his arguments in favour of using tools in this book. Using our hands instead of manipulating symbols on a screen, that's something we should all be making time for.
Having a better quality leisure life is something I definitely aspire to. With Cal's guidance I hope to see positive changes in the near future.
