Discovery of the Saiph - a nice well thought out story

Nice comfortable Sci-fi story. Rapid development of new tech, ancient data base new friends and a dastardly enemy. Well performed and I’ll definitely be searching the audible catalogue for the sequel. One small area for learning. Perhaps I’ve got old and grumpy but accepting the reader had a great tone of voice and pace of delivery a few key words were mispronounced.

Earth Being Useful to Aliens

An entertaining adventure in which humanity proves useful to aliens against an oppressor of unknown origin. The story flows easily while the narrator makes the most of space battles with heightened anxiety and rushed orders. All will keep a listener glued to the audio. Very good and enjoyable yarm looking forward to book two.

Mediocre

A first hour was more or less bearable. Because the story was quite intriguing and the development kept me listening. But the harder I tried to keep listening the harder it became to find explanation to myself why I'm torchering myself. The biggest deal killer theare was the narrator and the story itself is too weak to outweigh that minus.

Five star

Would you consider the audio edition of Discovery of the Saiph to be better than the print version?

Yes

What was one of the most memorable moments of Discovery of the Saiph?

The discovery of the Gravity Drive

Which character – as performed by Eric Michael Summerer – was your favourite?

Balanced, most if not all the characters are likeable

Any additional comments?

A simply well rounded book that has everything a space opera book should have. I rate this book up there with John Ringo's Troy Rising.

Truly awful

So much about the premise did not hang together. Also, the author doesn't know the meaning of "reverse engineer", which grated on me, amongst other things.

disappointing

What disappointed you about Discovery of the Saiph?

I got this because most of the reviews were good, I'm afraid i disagree with them. I was looking forward to a romping space opera with strong characters.

What was most disappointing about P. P. Corcoran’s story?

The characters were two dimensional and never developed. The story was simplistic and plodding.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

He wasn't my favorite narrator but didn't do a bad job with a very flat story.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It wasn't for me.

Any additional comments?

I kept losing interest and found it difficult to persevere to the end, will probably return it.

Fast paced

But lacking in character development, nuance and intrigue. Pretty good fun though. I’ll listen to the next one
