Summary

From the moment I open my eyes, I know. Her bed is made, the wardrobe empty.
There was something she wanted to tell me, but I didn't listen.
Now she's gone.

'A real masterclass in simmering tension that builds until the shocking end.' KL Slater

'One of my top reads of 2023. The tension kept me gripped until the final page.' DS Butler

Eleven years ago my sister Lola vanished from my aunt's cottage in Cornwall. Now I'm back, and I'm no closer to understanding why she ran away. What secrets was she keeping?

Memories come to me in snippets, but something is still missing. Then a body is discovered in a cave below the cliffs. No one knows how long it's been there. Is it Lola?

The next night I wake, knowing someone is there, standing by my bed. I can hear them breathing. What do they want? Am I getting too close to the truth?

Did Lola ever leave?

You will not be able to put it down

I really like the plot and the pace. Lots of twists and turns up until the very end. The narrator was great too. Overall enjoyed it a lot.

Hooked throughout

I really enjoyed this read/listen and didn’t want to put it down.
Kept you guessing throughout but the storyline remained believable and not too far fetched.
It usually take me a while (with other Authors) to really buy into the characters, but as with all Rachel Abbott books, I found I was engaged from the first page.

Really great story

Even though some of the outcomes were obvious it was still nail biting and some surprises made for a really enjoyable listen - thoroughly recommend!

A master storyteller

I love Rachel Abbott books as they are so multi layered. You can see where some elements are heading but there’s always plenty of surprises. Loose ends are tied up but there’s always suspense. Another great book.

Excellent

A brilliant story, hooked all the way through. At some points thought it was going to be tiresome when it kept going back in time but it was really essential to the plot and you find out why towards the end. I found I was so engrossed in the story it was difficult to stop listening and concentrate what else I was supposed to be doing. Would definitely recommend

Very absorbing

A very professional piece of work, both to listen to and as a story. Enjoyable and intriguing mystery by a very clever writer.
