Story
The vast majority of our country is entirely unknown to us because we are banned from setting foot on it. By law of trespass, we are excluded from 92 per cent of the land and 97 per cent of its waterways, blocked by walls whose legitimacy is rarely questioned. But behind them lies a story of enclosure, exploitation and dispossession of public rights whose effects last to this day. The Book of Trespass takes us on a journey over the walls of England, into the thousands of square miles of rivers, woodland, lakes and meadows that are blocked from public access.

As a struggling single mum, determined to keep a roof over her daughter's head, Stephanie Land worked for years as a maid, working long hours in order to provide for her small family. In Maid, she reveals the dark truth of what it takes to survive and thrive in today's inequitable society. As she worked hard to climb her way out of poverty as a single parent, scrubbing the toilets of the wealthy, navigating domestic labour jobs as a cleaner whilst also juggling higher education, assisted housing, and a tangled web of government assistance, Stephanie wrote. She wrote the true stories that weren't being told. The stories of the overworked and underpaid.

Summary
Random House presents the audiobook edition of Double Cross, by Malorie Blackman.
Just this once. Just this once and no more, I promise.
Please let me get away with it just this once....
Tobey wants a better life - for him and for Callie Rose. He wants nothing to do with the violent gangs that rule the world he lives in. But when he's offered the chance to earn some extra money, how much could it hurt to just this once say yes?
Callie Rose knows all about the danger of saying yes. She knows about terrible mistakes, and violence and family feuds, and the fierce divide between Noughts and Crosses.
And knowing so much about the past makes her afraid for her future.
Because sometimes, one little bad decision can change everything....

Typical plot rewritten
The series continues with this amazing story. The continuation is thought provoking and touching with twists and turns of emotion. The story is addictive and hard to stop listening to. The story was exciting and full of suspense and anticipation. Throughout the book the now familiar characters are developed and we grow along with them. As the events unfold the excitement and also development of the story carries the listener along with it.

A very different story
Following on from the first three books this feels more like Noughts and Cross the Next Generation rather than a continuation of the story. But, as any Stat Trek fan will tell you Picard is just as good, if not better than Kirk! This story follows mostly Toby and how he enters the world of racial stereotypes, expectations and living on the edge of society. Blackman makes excellent observations and comparisons between the world of young black men in inner city London and translates them sensitively into the world she has created.
Playing more like a gangster movie at times, it was clear that characters remain at the heart of all that she writes, no matter ethnicity or background and this really stretches the narrative and builds a richer world. Nothing like the previous 3 books but all the better for it and I cannot wait for book 5.
