an exciting & fast paced sci fi adventure

down below beyond is a well narrated, exciting, wholesome, emotional and fun sci fi story. there's an interesting world filled with a variety of excellently written main and side characters with plenty of development over the span of this standalone story. it features a variety of alien races, worlds and planet hopping.

this was the perfect quick, exciting read (listen) I had been seeking. I'll be keeping my eye on this author

Down Below Beyond

First things first. A great tale, a great listen. Secondly, what a relief to find a storyteller who is happy to wrap up a narrative in one book!

I enjoyed this space opera romp, it's got all the tropes you'd expect: buddies; betrayals; battles; beyond; belly-laughs & bad-guys.

The narrator brings the rich cast of characters to life, a real asset to the book, whose title only becomes clear right at the end. Recommended.

Avoid

Twenty minutes into the narration, I realised that this purchase was a mistake and applied for a refund, which was refused. The reason I toughed it out to the end, with the emphasis on tough, was to pen a review and perhaps stop others wasting their money. it probably didn't help going into to this straight off the back of several Iain M Banks titles, but from start to finish, the infantile plot, scripting and pointless hollow dialogue made for a truly painful listening experience. just poor, avoid.
