About this listen

Bicycles, epipdemic outbreaks, and interspecies romance

Shenanigans and surprises ensue when a hyperactive middle-age businessman hears about an epidemic reaching the small island where he grew up. He immediately volunteers himself AND his bicycle courier employees to go chasing around the isle as volunteer health services personnel for the relief effort's logistics team!

Meanwhile, Millie, a Drachen restaurateur and cook extraordinaire, and her half-Drachen daughter are helping to coordinate the effort island-side and anticipating the arrival of Millie's oldest, dearest friend and his oddball crew.
But when one of the riders is injured right off the bat, Daavi may have bitten off more than he can chew, as he takes over as an impromptu courier, racing around the island on his own heavy, unglamorous little bike. And Millie might have a few surprises of her own for him....

Grab a radio and ride along in this (slightly bizarre) tale of action and interspecies romance, set in the tropics during an epidemic outbreak.

A tour de force of narration skill

Drachen: Tropical Trouble is a wonderful listen and read, because Duffy Webber, narrating his own work, has an incredible gift for breathing life into his characters. Normally, you'd expect a bland delivery from someone narrating their own work, because many others have shown that not everyone can be both a great writer and actor. Yet Duffy Webber is one of those especially rare talent who can not only create compelling stories and narratives, but he is effortlessly able to lift each character off the page and bring them to life. There are numerous characters in this book, yet each sounds unique. They all have their individual mannerisms, cadence and timbre. Rather than listening to a narrator playing one part, it feels as if you are listening to an entire audio play with a complete cast. I'd wholeheartedly recommend you give the Drachen series a listen, because if you do, your ears, imagination and mind are in for a treat.
