About this listen
From the producers of the Maze Runner trilogy comes this fictional oral history of the appearance of dragons on earth, starring Hayley Atwell (Mission Impossible), Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four, The Shield), Aldis Hodge (Justice League), Greta Lee (Russian Doll, Past Lives), Jimmi Simpson (Dark Matter, Westworld), and a full cast. A riveting listen perfect for fans of World War Z and Sleeping Giants.
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them. When the defense strategy hits on a breakthrough at the same time Neve receives a lead regarding her missing son, she finds herself torn between what is personal to her and what is necessary for mankind’s survival: hope.
Full cast of narrators include: Richard Tatum, Chioke I’Anson, Gail Shalan, Rez Kempton, Judy Gold, Piper Goodeve, Gregory Connors.
Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Better than expected - sometimes very good
I really liked the first person narratives and the use of different points of view. However the writing is very uneven - sometimes absorbing at other times jarring. As a UK listener, the English characters ( particularly the ornithologist) had very odd cadences and usages. Sometimes the swearwords fitted perfectly with the character and at other times it was gratuitous - trying too hard for reality?

BRILLIANT.
I am not a fan of fantasy literature, I find the idea of dragons amusing at best, pathetic at worst. This genre is populated by two dimensional characters who have no development and speak in declamatory terms. That is not the case here. This is very much a contemporary drama that has very believable characters and a great plot. It twists and turns and quite frankly is brilliant. It is free to members and well worth it.

Dragons and people
The story was a nice change of pace compared to a lot of different audios I have listened to. Each character having a voice made it very easy to keep up with what was going on with character

Good
I thought it was a good story, it was like a documentary style giving an account of wot went down, dragons were cool.

Brilliant
i really enjoyed this book, it reminds me of 'world war Z' in the almost documentary style of telling the story and the way it unfolds by telling the story from different view points. I was engrossed from the beginning.

Fantastic voice acting and interesting concept
I really enjoyed this overall - the voice acting was brilliant and the interview format worked really well. I do recommend it.
I have two main criticisms though -
1) there is A LOT of gory detail about multiple animal deaths. Be warned if that is something you don’t like.
2) the eventual denouement tends towards deus ex machina… which is a shame, as the concept otherwise is great.

Very structured
While concept is quite interesting. Story itself is very structured and kinda predictable due to various stories taking the same path. VA was great, but doesn't change the lack of more dragon focused lines. If dragons were changed to superior enemy aircraft the story still would stay almost the same.

Great concept
How do people cope with and survive a predator that suddenly appears and starts attacking? The journalistic style of this book, progressing through time following ‘D-day’ works well to unfold the story and introduce the characters. There were some characters whose story I would have liked to have been developed more but as a whole, this was a great book.
