About this listen
Summer on the Peninsula.
The heat’s ramping up, the usual holiday madness building. D.I. Hal Challis is already recycling his shower water and starting to dread Christmas. But this year there’s something more. Women abducted and murdered on the Old Highway. A pall of fear over the scorched paddocks. The media are demanding answers - and Challis’s sleepy beat is set to explode.

Standard Story Bizarre Narration
It's a detective yarn, not bad not great just standard. But the narrator is just odd. He's away with the fairies. The tone of voice just doesn't fit the words on the page, it's bizarre.

could have been a good book..........
I've no doubt I would have enjoyed this book as much as ì have the other Garry Disher books but I just couldn't listen for more than an hour. The narration was awful, the voice, the lack of differentiation between characters, the droning tone, split the whole thing for me so I just gave up

Excellent
As always with Garry Disher great characterisation and human stories underpinning a strong police procedural. Liked Challis and will read more to see how the character develops. Good plot lines that tie together nicely.
