Story
Widely considered to be Charles Dickens' greatest and best-loved work, Great Expectations was first published as a serial between December 1860 - August 1861 and has been in print ever since. The story of a young boy from humble origins who dares to dream of becoming a gentleman, it is one of Dickens' most enduring and widely adapted novels. In this new unabridged production, star comedian and polymath Eddie Izzard infuses the story of Pip with his trademark wit and flair.

Story
More sketches from the inside-out world of David Mitchell and Robert Webb, including what James Bond is really like as a party guest, and the rather too exciting world of Rabbit Newsnight. Their distinctive and lopsided view of the world includes the worst possible name for a dry cleaning shop; the brave and dangerous work of Hairdressers Sans Frontiers; and the tragic consequences when a stray piece of ham goes unchecked.

Funny but missing some classic bits
Eddie Izzard’s rambling, free-form style of comedy might not be to everyone’s taste but I found it perfect for listening to while out for a run. One complaint though - if you have watched the dvd version of this show you will be disappointed to find that this recording uses material from a different night of the tour so the classic “cake or death” bit is missing as is the part where Eddie does a chunk of his act in French with hilarious results. I’ve no idea why this is the case but I was left feeling a little disappointed as familiarity with that version of the show had left me expecting them. I wouldn’t say it ruined the experience for me completely but it was a bit of let down.

More bellies laughs than I've had listening to comedy than I've had in a long while. Could have spent the Audible credit on something more expensive but this is kind of priceless.

Not as good as the DVD
I bought this because someone borrowed my DVD and I can't remember who. This show lacks the energy of the one they filmed and leaves out a lot of material from that performance too. Eddie can be wildly variable in his performances depending on his mood . This was one if his ' bored with this set ' nights I reckon .

Not the same as the DVD version
Got this because I love the DVD and thought it would be good to listen to at work. Unfortunately it must a recording from a different night of the tour. Main jokes are the same, but just wasn’t what I was expecting or wanted.

Brilliantly funny!
Eddie is my favourite comedian and although I’ve seen the dvd of this show, it’s nice to be able to hear it on the go too! Unfortunately it’s not exactly the same as the dvd and has some of the best scenes missing. A shame, but still very funny!
I’ll definitely be listening to this time and time again!

Eddie Izzard is a comic genius and this is an excellent show. It's fun to listen to but better to watch. Great material in a different format.
