I originalöversättning av Karin Lidforss Jensen Lucy Maud Montgomery (1874-1942) växte upp på en ö i Kanada, i samma område som böckerna om Anne utspelar sig. Till att börja med hittade hon ingen som ville ge ut hennes böcker om Anne på Grönkulla, men när de väl gavs ut blev de en stor succé.
