About this listen
What do obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, fatty liver disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, stroke, neurological disorders and premature death have in common? All can be stoked by high uric acid levels.
Our most respected scientific literature is bursting with evidence that elevated uric acid levels lie at the root of many pervasive health conditions, but mainstream medicine for the most part remains unaware of this connection. This is especially alarming because one-third of Americans don't know they are suffering from sky-high levels, putting them at risk for developing or exacerbating potentially life-threatening illnesses.
Offering an engaging blend of science and practical advice, Drop Acid exposes the deadly truth about uric acid and teaches invaluable strategies to manage its levels, including:
- Simple dietary edits focused on reducing fructose and foods high in 'purines' that can raise uric acid.
- Natural hacks that lower levels such as consuming tart cherries, vitamin C, quercetin and coffee.
- Identifying common pharmaceuticals that threaten to increase uric acid.
- Lifestyle interventions, like restorative sleep and exercise.
- How to easily test your uric acid levels at home - a test routinely performed in your doctor's office during regular check-ups but typically ignored.
Featuring the ground-breaking 'LUV' (Lower Uric Values) diet, Drop Acid empowers listeners with the information they need to address this hidden danger and live longer, leaner and healthier lives.

Valuable information terrible narration
This is excellent information and everyone should hear what Dr Perlmutter has to say. HOWEVER the narration is absolutely appalling. Had I not been extremely keen to hear the information I would have abandoned this book so bad is the narrator- he sounds like he is trying to half sing the words - which he spaces and emphasises incorrectly. It is truly awful.

This book should be in every GP's office/ surgery
Unfortunately this is what our GP'S cannot tell us. It should be a must-read particularly with the Coronavirus prevalent. With this knowledge you are the architect of one's own future! Brilliant. Wish I had a Doctor like these guys. A must read for all conditions. We should all have access to this kind information.Thank you.

Important fact, High Uric acid levels are bad.
Im glad I listened to this book because it explained why I feel awful, and slowly advance into pro diabetes, and arthritis.
It was worth the purchase for that.
The book itself is extremely repetative, and filled. The main points ,foods to really avoid, suppliments advised should be given in the notes. The book pretty much tells us that there is very little to choose in the supermarket to eat thats not bad, even chicken.
Couldnt find allulose, tart cherrys only in juice form with sweetners. The suppliment bill a month is ridiculous.
In summary the main point Uric acid is very bad for you is now ingrained and therefore I do not resent the purchase.
I will however have to do more research to find a balanced afordable diet. I wish to eat the correct foods and not suppliments
and have some pleasure in a meal times, this book is not that helpful for that.

dull
Dry and not an entertaining listen. Packed with jargon that is close to meaninglessness as it is too scientific for the layperson.

Confusing
So much contradictory contend. It seems that a certain “sweetener” sugar alternative allulose is being promoted and pushed, and after some careful investigation the validity of this substance or product has no or very little research results on long term use. Also the same author/ dr at one stage labeled honey as no go, no it’s good to go, after research he says, so what else will be banned today and be ok’d later, after research ?
