About this listen

Cozy Mystery....

Thirty-nine-year-old Rosi Laruee—named Rosisophia Doroche after her mother’s beloved Golden Girls—decides that the end of her twenty-year marriage and her dad’s impending knee replacement surgery are all the excuses she needs to visit Tucson Valley Retirement Community. But the drama follows Rosi when she finds the body of local tart and business owner, Salem Mansfield. The information she discovers using her newspaper reporter sleuthing skills coupled with the clues she picks up from lackluster Police Officer Dan Daniel lead to a surprise discovery when the murderer is revealed. Along the way, she meets a cast of characters in her parents' social circle who leave her questioning her parents' choices in friends while simultaneously befriending many of the residents, including a handsome landscaper and a brand-new Golden Retriever puppy she names Barley. Rosi’s visit to Tucson Valley proves more than she’d bargained for, but maybe, she realizes, it’s just the kind of change she needs.

***Laugh out loud with Rosi, and be prepared to get the happy feels along the way!***

5 Huge Stars!

A captivating story from beginning to end, with an interesting mystery, a fun group of relatable characters (and the adorable Barley), and plenty of humour. The book is excellently narrated by Torii Alaniz.

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Laugh out loud cozy

Dying to Go (Nothing to Gush About) is the first in the Tucson Valley Retirement Cozy Mystery series by Marcy Blesy. Rosi Laruee, a 39 year old newly divorced woman leaves Chicago to help her parents in Arizona while her dad recovers from knee surgery. She stays with them and meets her parents’ friends in the retirement community, but also finds a dead body, a scandal and, maybe even love. Rosi is a great character, and similar to many middle aged women who are thrown over by their husbands and outgrown by her college aged son. She needs a change and Arizona may be it. The book has a few mysteries, quirky but realistic characters and truly laugh out loud moments. The narration by Torii Alaniz is great. She brings the characters and story to life. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

Retirement is anything but boring

I enjoyed this book. The story is very character driven giving you a lot of things that had nothing to do with the mystery but as it made it entertaining I didn't mind. Actually it is what made the characters so likeable. I especially like how even at her worse (or should I say clumsiest) Keaton still managed to turn the frown upside down. Don't get me wrong Rosi isn't hopeless, she is a great main character and one I look forward to joining her again, she just has the worse luck and it leads to some funny situations. The mystery kept me guessing and was just a fun cozy, with a budding romance, loveable dogs and an interfering mother. All the things that make for a great cost mystery. This is the first book in the series and sets up nicely way a thirty nine year old would be living in a Retirement Community and I hope there are a lot more books to come.
Rosi a recently divorced mother of one moves into a Retirement Community to help care for her father after knee surgery, that is if her mother doesn't drive her nuts try to find a new man for her. While trying to get away from her matchmaking, she stumbles over the dead body of the local book shop owner. She might have been fired from her last job but that doesn't mean she can't use those skills to help the police. Especially when the police arrested a man, leaving Rosi with two dogs to look after and the knowledge they have arrested the wrong man. Can she find the killer before her father is back on his feet? And before her mother and friends set her up on a date?
