About this listen
From what we know of history, Egypt, along with Sumer, were the foundations of civilization. The Fertile Crescent, which stretched from the Nile Valley to the twin rivers in Mesopotamia, gave us our earliest glimpse of organized man. But organized how? For one, both locations gave us writing - hieroglyphics in Egypt and cuneiform in Sumer. There is still some debate about who was first.
In this audiobook, we will start by looking at the gods and goddesses of Kemet - Ancient Egypt. Then, we will turn our attention to the monsters which likely gave them nightmares and humbled them in their quest to bring order to the world around them. Finally, we will look at the mortals which shaped their civilization and made Egypt the bedrock of our own history. Though Egypt today is only a third-world nation, struggling with terrorism and poverty, their heritage remains vital to the understanding of who we are as a species.

Any additional comments?
My 7yo daughter, Marry, loves mythology books. We have read quite a few. This series, in particular, held his attention a lot longer than most. She likes all the facts about dates, locations, relation to other gods/goddesses. This book does a good job of informing.

I find myself referring back to that time!!!
Any additional comments?
This is really just A Fascinating Guide Egyptian Mythology, but Ions finds a good balance between giving an overview and giving some historical significance listening to the ways Egyptian religion evolved. I find myself referring back to this one time and time again as a reference.

Makes a great resource for me
Actually this is more a book on who the God and Goddesses of Ancient were. Some chapters told about how the gods and the cults evolved, but mainly it lists the major gods and goddesses of Egypt and their surrounding neighbors and where they came from and by the many names they were known by. It was well-written, with excellent pictures, and the author is an expert in her field, with field work behind her. It was fascinating to try and keep all the deities clear in my mind.
