About this listen
From the best-selling author of the Supervillainy Saga
Derek Hawthorne has ascended to become a member of the all-powerful Committee, which rules the world through the nebulous House. The House, officially, exists to protect humanity from the vampires, demons, and other forces of darkness that imperil humanity. Unofficially, it exists to protect its own power.
When his old partner, Christopher Hang, turns up as one of the undead — Derek is nonplussed to say the least. Christopher also has a message that troubles the tiny remains of Derek's conscience: The House is running a secret project to not only control supernaturals but eliminate them. Now, Derek has to figure out if he's to side with the supernatural or humanity or neither. Oh and did we mention Dracula, pirates, and werewolves were involved, too?

The truth about paternal influences.
C T Phipps writing is quirky funny. Daniel Hawthorne is the man you go too when no one else can help but dad (I am your father) is doing what he does best in the background. We need more. Jeffrey kafer is perfect and easy to listen too.

Spies... Vampires... Monsters... Oh my!
Had me gripped and chuckling. Not really sure how Phipps does it, but this must be the fourth or fifth of his novels that I've listened to and the mix of humour, action, and thrills remains as fresh as the first book. Pitch perfect narration only adds to what is an enthralling story. How to say much more without giving anything away? Let's just say this. Phipps has had a fantastic idea for a setting and this shows off his skills in showing another facet of it. You probably ought to read the first book in the series before this one but familiarity with his other works isn't vital. If you have read some of Phipps other novels (Straight Outta Fangton for example) you'll get a hint of the way he weaves in touches of worldbuilding that ripple between stories. It's awesome!

“ What the f@ckety f@ck!?”
Brilliant! A great story, well written (just like everything Charles writes!) full of action, wit, snark and pop culture references!
Jeffrey is the perfect partner in crime for Charles’ writing with great character voices and pacing. He really helps bring the story to life. Ok, some of the foreign accents aren’t perfect, but not enough to put a dampener on things!
Honestly, listen to ANYTHING that Charles or Jeffrey put your way!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.
