Summary

The highly anticipated sequel to the SUNDAY TIMES bestselling EMPIRE OF THE VAMPIRE 'Bloody brilliant' V.E. Schwab

‘A ripping read’ Joe Abercrombie

Gabriel de León has saved the Holy Grail from death, but his chance to end the endless night is lost.

After turning his back on his silversaint brothers once and for all, Gabriel and the Grail set out to learn the truth of how Daysdeath might finally be undone.

But the last silversaint faces peril, within and without. Pursued by children of the Forever King, drawn into wars and webs centuries in the weaving, and ravaged by his own rising bloodlust, Gabriel may not survive to see the truth of the Grail revealed.

A truth that may be too awful for any to imagine.

Includes a bonus conversation between Jay Kristoff and actor/director Joseph Morgan (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Halo).

Great continuation of the story

Enjoyed the story but was not a fan of the two narrators it wasn't down well, it would of worked much better if Damian had read the male parts and Shakira read the female parts.

Worth the Wait!

I've been waiting on this sequal since I finished the first book which I absolutely loved. What can I say...? The author picks everything back up and continues on the journey with these wonderfully engaging characters. The pace was necessarily slow at times but that was no problem as the writing and narration always kept things moving and there was plenty of fast moving action. Overall, I'd recommend to anyone who enjoyed the first book.

Hope there's a book 3

To be honest, I wasn't too sure when I saw they were now using two narrators. Especially, since book 1 only had one. That being said, I came to like both narrators even if the characters voices changed at times. Story wise, I liked hearing different perspectives on various events. Another great entry from Jay Kristoff.

Great Sequel

Great sequel but this second audio book let down by sibilance of female narrators Selene. I guess having 2 narrators makes quicker production. I switched headphones and speakers so it’s not just tinny headphones. Maybe some audio processing would fix.

Gloriously decadent

Jay Kristoff it’s always so gloriously decadent in his writing. His descriptions, characterisation, action and you-know-what never leave anything to the imagination. The perfect middle book in a trilogy, it leaves you hungrier for the finish than when at the end of book one.

Even better than the first...

I really enjoyed the first book, Empire of the Vampire. I felt it was a great story and a refreshing take on vampire stories. So I was really looking forward to this books release. And it doesn't disappoint. The tension and the stakes keep on growing and growing. And the ending is very satisfying, seeing up one hell of a third book. And while I saw a few of the twists coming, I didn't see that main twist in the final act coming at all. Can't wait for the 3rd book. Only a few years left to wait 😭😭😭

Enthralling

Builds brilliantly on the first book and will leave you thirsting for the third. The narrators did a wonderful job of telling the tale from either perspective and once you settle into this form of storytelling, the tale that unfolds holds you til the last word.

The third instalment can’t come quick enough.

The Hill I Die On

Words fail in the pursuit to truly grasp the magnificence and wonder, the high's and low's, the joys of victory to the heartaches of loss! This book.
This saga.
Phenomenal.
