Summary
The vampire prince has never claimed a human. Until now.
My whole life I’ve been nothing but a means to an end; livestock kept caged for the production of blood. I’ve stared through fences at the promise of freedom countless times, but the only way anyone escapes this hell is in the hands of a bloodsucker.
The annual testing is about to begin, and those who pass are never seen again. So f--k that. My twin and I decided to risk it all. To run before the royals could claim us.
Turns out, that dream expired fast. Because when an original vampire decides to own you, there’s nowhere in this ruined world left to escape to.
I’m at his mercy now, trapped in his castle, destined to become his creature, and forced into a dangerous game of rivalry between the seductive vampire princes.
His beauty is a weapon I wasn’t prepared for, his cruelty a bane that strikes fear in the hearts of all, and his company a sin I’m going to spend my life repenting.
I need to get back to my sister, but she’s caught in a trap of her own, tangled up with the last slayer to walk this earth and following his path towards vengeance. She’s at his mercy too, the man with violence tattooed across his skin, death trailing his footsteps as he stalks his prey - who just so happen to be the royal vampires who hold me captive.
The gods are toying with us all, placing my twin and I on opposite sides of an ancient war. And in the end, I fear there won’t be any victors left standing.
So I’m going to play a game of my own, let my captor use me as his puppet until I find my moment to strike.
Let this hell-born ritual of lust, lies and blood begin.
This is a dark, fantasy romance series by the authors of Zodiac Academy with all the enemies to lovers vibes – don’t go expecting a sweet vampire with sparkling skin and a tendency to watch you sleeping. These vampires are savage and bloodthirsty, and the slayer who hunts them will stab first and ask questions later.
This war-torn fantasy world is a brutal bi*ch and only those 18+ have a chance at surviving the darkness lurking in the audio. There’s no well-meaning vampires snacking on Bambies instead of babies, and if they get their teeth into you, you’ll be damn lucky to escape with your life and panties intact. So grab hold of your slayer blade (wooden stakes have too many splinters) and get ready to defy the gods, because this is going to be one helluva ride.

not much difference
I read the original books, decided to try the rewrites and I can't see much difference between the original and this book except that some parts of the story have been removed. It's a good book, but disappointed I've paid twice for more or less the same book.

BOOK TWO PLEASE!!
For me this book had a bit of a slow start with a lot of Dystopian world building and getting to know the twins Callie and Montana but definitely got me hooked.
The attention to detail in getting to know the way the Vampires reign over humans really made me feel all the feels.I loved the way the characters are all badass. No meek twin here and I’m so rooting for them both.
The male leads are everything you’d want and I think there are so many secrets to be revealed.
The narrator does an excellent job of drawing you in and keeps a hint of urgency in her voice that’s addictive.
I can’t wait for book two.

A fun, fast read
I loved the flow of this story. It kept me intrigued all the way through and I love the development of the relationships between the characters. I also liked the obvious conflict that is brewing. There were a couple of things I didn't love but overall a fun read.

Delightful, world building, slow burn
I really enjoyed this story when i first read it. I enjoyed it even more when listening to this. Its a brilliant world building series (that im currently ready book 3 on) going back and listening to book one ive picked up so much more than i did first time. Michelle Sparks does a brilliant job of voicing both the sisters in a way that you know which sister is talking without know what chapter your on, their are slight differences I just haven’t pin pointed. Brilliant story and great set up for the series to come. Defiantly a slow burn.
May contain spoilers :
This story is following two twin sisters Callie and Montana that live in a human prison town ruled by Vampires. Vampires rule the world they live in and they are just food for them. Testing takes place to see if anyone is Worthy though no human knows what for. The twins get tested so decide to escape with their father, twists and turns along the way and the sisters get separated. Callie ends up with a Slayer legend and Montana ends up with a Vampire Prince. Escape, submit, revenge, rebel … who really is the Villian or the hero, who’s on the right the wrong? Is it really enemies to lovers or just play the role when shackled as a prisoner to aid an escape.

Fantastic Performance
I loved this series originally when I first delved into the back catalogue of the authors, but the re-released version is truly better! Michelle is a new narrator to me, as she is the sisters stories, but she told this perfectly portraying the difference between the sisters beautifully!

Twisted sisters at their best ♥️
I didn’t read the original version of this series so was really excited to give it a go. It didn’t disappoint! Once I’d gotten past the world building I really bought into both the girls and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Both FMCs have periods of seeming very young but perhaps that comes from a sheltered life with their father. I prefer a slightly more mature MC but I can see real opportunity for growth.
I hope we get to find out some more about the guys because I don’t really feel invested in their journey yet.
I also really enjoyed the narration. The pace was perfect for me as I speed up all my audio and some narrators can’t stand up to this but it worked really well here. I liked that you could tell which sisters POV we were hearing and the story flowed really well in audio.
Will definitely check out the audio of book 2

Hooked from the start!
Just to preface, I have not read this book so my first time listening to it is my first intro into this world and wow I felt as though I was right there with Callie and Montana. I felt their despair, desperation and anger but also those rare moments of joy and hope that make me want to keep listening in the hope that their find more happiness as the story continues. Narration is also fantastic, she really manages to give each twin their own voice personality. The story follows Callie and Montana in a new world full of destruction and over run with vampires. While they’ve always had each other, the life they have only ever known has been ripped away from them and now they must figure out how to navigate their situations separately with the goal of bringing their family together again. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to dive into book two!

Fantastic world building!
I wasn't lucky enough to read the original version of these books before they were unpublished, so I've been eager to read this since I found out it was being rewritten!
This book is an amazing start to the series! It is amazing at setting up the world that Callie and Montana live in, along with a good insight to the characters.
It started off quite slow, but that's usually the case when world building, and it's book 1 of 6 so totally expected! The last few chapters of the book had me on the edge of my seat needing to know more and I'm so excited for book 2 😍😍
