Summary

Two teens meet and bond when they are forced to visit their respective parents in neighboring apartments every other weekend. A sparkling, nuanced, and emotional listen for fans of Rainbow Rowell, Morgan Matson, and Julie Buxbaum.

Heartbreak brought them together...will love tear them apart?

Adam's life used to be awesome. Straight As, close friends, and a perfect home life. Then his oldest brother died. Now his mom cries constantly, he and his middle brother can't talk without fighting, and the father he always admired moved out when they needed him most.

Aspiring director Jolene's life is nothing like the movies she loves - not the happy ones anyway. With her divorced parents at each other's throats and using her as a pawn, no amount of mental reediting will give her the love she’s starving for.

Forced to spend every other weekend in the same apartment building, the boy who thinks forgiveness makes him weak and the girl who thinks love is for fools begin an unlikely friendship. The weekends he dreaded and she endured quickly become the best part of their lives. Have Jolene and Adam found something real? Or is their connection doomed from the start?

They’ll find out...every other weekend.

Didn’t think I would like it!

I was very surprised I would like it as it was a teenage-based story.

But, I did like it and it made me cry a couple of times. Well worth a listen I think.

Great story which is not scared to tackle the hard stuff. (not giving any spoilers)

So good

I like it when two characters take a chapter each and works seamlessly.
A great book x

A good book

Narrators were flawless. I was impressed by the imagery in this book - I felt as though I could clearly picture everything. Thoroughly enjoyed it and surprised I haven't heard more about it before deciding to give it a go

Strange narration, draggy story

The narrators don't sound real, and it's unnerving. Is it text-to-speech? It's as though they've recorded a few hundred words that have been edited together, except for the dialogue lines where they put on different voices and sound 'real'. If it is text-to-speech, it's good quality. The trouble is that it's close enough to real to feel creepy.
The plot is OK so far, but there are too many 'I felt my heartbeat...' and 'I watched him look at...' details that slow the pace. I'm quitting a few hours in.

slow and very detailed

Very slow pace with intense in depth descriptions of feelings and emotions. Interesting view of teenage love and family grief. Some might find it a bit gushy.

A sweet entertaining story!

The story was a very good one. For those interested in ya genre, this ya romance is very sweet and interesting. The plot is a simple one but it is kind of soothing to listen to. Thank you very much!

Great book excellent topics that are mentioned

One thing I loved about this book was how it mentioned topics that are sometimes difficult to read/talk about/hear but are still extremely important to discuss. Topics like rape and divorce (which are mentioned in the book) don’t -usually- come up in conversation but still happen in life and that means that however terrible they might be it is important to talk about and notice. In conclusion I really liked this book, and not just for the reason mentioned above, but also because I loved the storyline.
