Summary

A story of love, war, loyalty and betrayal, Excalibur begins with the failure of Lancelot's rebellion and the ruin of Arthur's marriage to Guinevere. The Saxons, sensing the disunity of the Britons, seize the chance to destroy Arthur. The climax of the war comes with the legendary triumph at Mount Badon, and Arthur`s great victory. But the promises he made then come back to haunt him after the years of peace and glory.

Why the complaints about Keebles Irish accents?

He is the ONLY non Northern Irish person I have ever heard successfully capturing our accent! Nimuwe is not from the south!

I love Derval, and the way Keeble gets Arthur's empathy for his fellow humans is amazing to me, I would love to hear him do ASOIAF and most importantly do the rest of the Saxon Chronicle.

I enjoyed all three books in the Warlord Trilogy but I think the third book, Excalibur, is the best of all.

Three excellent books. Superbly written about believable people and events. Thanks to Mr Cornwell, I hope he will continue to write such enjoyable historical books.

Wow

Another fantastic tale from this trilogy and elevated further by Jonathan Keeble's reading. Going to try another of Keeble's narrated tales.

Cornwells greatest tale told fantastically

My favourite books from Bernard Cronwell and by far his most sad and tragic. The story is narrated brilliantly, the whole theme of a lost and dying land is captured completely and you will laugh and cry but never shake of the feeling of an impending doom that the story portrays so well. Looking forward to seeing it retold on TV. I just hope that it can do justice to this truly masterpiece of a story.

Brilliant story and narration

Great twists on the story of Arthur enjoyed every minute and will no doubt listen to it again after reading the first two books again. I hope it’s not the last.

The end of a marvellous saga

Brutality, treachery, greed and witchcraft are the themes of this spellbinding novel. The narrator is outstanding.
