Summary

Veteran reporter Jack McEvoy has taken down killers before, but when a woman he had a one-night stand with is murdered in a particularly brutal way, McEvoy realises he might be facing a criminal mind unlike any he's ever encountered.

McEvoy investigates - against the warnings of the police and his own editor - and makes a shocking discovery that connects the crime to other mysterious deaths across the country. But his inquiry hits a snag when he himself becomes a suspect.

As he races to clear his name, McEvoy's findings point to a serial killer working under the radar of law enforcement for years and using personal data shared by the victims themselves to select and hunt his targets.

excellent

it took me a while to get my head around jack again, it's been a long long time since the last full blown outing.
after this the storyline was great with some cool twists and turns.
highly recommended.
Great narration from both and a story that held me close to it .

Another Michael Connelly winner

One of his lesser known characters, but if your a fan you quickly remember him. A good story well told. Don't be disappointed it's not bosch or Ballard or Mickey haller but rejoice that the prodigal has returned. Good audio book extra on the end. Liking forward to the next Connelly book irrespective of the characters involved.

Another Winner from Michael Connelly!

I am a big fan of Michael Connelly and his L.A. tales. And this lates book did not disappoint except for one little thing I thought was a little lazy at the end! If you read it I'm sure you will know what I mean!

Best Michael Connelly book in years

I think I have listened to/read all of his books - Fair Warning is the best one in years. I literally ran further than I had planned to be able to listen to more of the book.

Excellently crafted

very enjoyable new book from Mr Connelly. Story very good , based on topical subject of digital identity. Narrator was a bit understated but that didn't detract too much from the overall enjoyment. Clearly also there will be a sequel featuring the two main characters Jack McAvoy and Rachel Walling, which is good news for Michael Connelly fans.

Good book dull performance

Nearly gave up on the book due to the guy reading it. Awful. But love Michael Connelly’s books so stuck it out. Good story.

Things are looking up

With Harry Bosch getting older and slowing down to a gentle stagger, it's good to have the more lively Jack McEvoy back. It's more of the kind of action I had come to expect of Connelly.
The narrators were okay, if a bit bored sounding, and not too good with one character's English accent. Neither detracts from the reader's enjoyment, though.

Chapters chop off 8 & 9 so far

I was really looking forward to this book and so far the storyline is engaging, exciting and it’s great to see Jack back.

The actual editing of the story and narration is not doing the book justice. At the end of two or three chapters so far the narrator is cut off. We are losing a sentence or two of the work.
