About this listen
Transplanted Boston Brahmin, Mercy Allcutt, has had some very exciting times as secretary to private investigator, Ernie Templeton. While it’s true she’s been in what she considers a wee bit of trouble (and Ernie considers out-and-out danger) a time or two, she’s determined to continue learning the ways of the “real” world.
However, when she sets out to find her wandering boss, Ernie, one hot September afternoon, she not only discovers a corpse, but she also finds Ernie, bound and gagged. Worse, when the police arrive to investigate the crime, they peg Ernie as the killer.
Well, Mercy isn’t about to let them get away with that, no matter how many times Ernie tells her to butt out of the police inquiry. The only question is whether she’ll survive her investigatorial efforts once again, or if she’ll become one more “Fallen Angel.”

A funny and exciting detective romp
This is the second book in this series that I have listened to , and I found it just as hard to try and find the guilty party as I did the other one I listened to. The author has a great imagination for this period in history, the late 1920's. She has made Mercy such an amazing main character and the relationship between her and her boss Ernie is hilarious. I would imagine at some point their friendship will turn to something more. This is a really good series as you get all the suspense of a thriller plus the comedy of slapstick. The only thing I have to complain about is how much Ernie uses God's name as a swear word as a Christian I am offended by it so I will have to think about whether I can ignore it to listen to more of the series
I received a free code for this book from Audiobooks Unleashed to listen to on Audible. This review is my own honest opinion.
