About this listen

Smart men quit while they’re ahead - they lay low and hope disaster blows on by them. Not me. Especially when disaster seems to follow me and my soulmate Havoc, a demon I bound to me 300 years ago with my magic.

The dark mage Geoff is back from the dead and creating chaos by devouring the hearts of people with magical abilities, giving him overwhelming power as his followers grow. And since I’m one of the strongest mages alive and am leading the resistance against him, he’s coming for me next. Oh, and it might have something to do with the fact that I was also the one who originally killed him. But you can’t blame me; the guy needed to die.

Havoc and I, along with our unlikely band of...(I don’t want to say heroes, I can’t give them that much credit) annoyances will stop at nothing to end the destruction. It doesn’t hurt that there’s a sexy demon by my side every step of the way. For the first time in 300 years, I’m finally with the person meant for me, and I will do anything to keep from losing him.

Familiar Beginnings is a 63k word sequel to Happy Endings. Contains a powerful mage who just wants to be left in peace, a mysterious curly-haired troublemaker, gargoyles that are literally dumber than stone, a river trip that doesn’t feel at all like a vacation, and a “cat” with some unusual features and deadly claws.

As good as book one.

The same great characters with some fun additions. Great sense of humour. I've read many of Alice Winters books, I love the humour and the fun characters. She has great way of making seemingly evil characters the heroes and always makes me laugh. Some moving moments to. An enjoyable story with excellent narration by Greg Boudreaux.

Another hilarious episode

Ok I may have laughed so hard I almost peed my pants 😆 Wouldn’t it be great if Alice wrote a book where Miles and Havoc get together with Leland and Jackson to defeat a common enemy although I’m not sure my bladder could take all the laughing.

Hilarious

The story and the narrator are just awesome! Characterisation is brilliant and I found myself grinning like a maniac most of the way through. I can recommend reading the books too, as well as listening to them. Fab!

Great Series

I love Miles & Havoc - such great characters with an amazing bond. They're still in the fight against the bad guy from Miles's past, but they've got the support of their frinds. All in all it's a brilliant story

I cannot recommend Greg Boudreaux enough, either. His narration absolutely brings to life this heartwarming, hot, hilarious tale. 5*

Awesome

Greg does these characters so well, the inflictions and emotion into his voices adds another wonderful dimension. This book is awesome, I loved this edition and hope that it’s not the last. I adore Etienne and Leo. Alice needs to make more books, I love that Miles can share and relive memories especially with Havoc and the way that they use this as an escape from their problems and a way to bond as a couple it’s really lovely. Evan is so wonderful odd. I had a cat very similar to Menace and now have questions. It was great to see the gang again. Reread list for sure.

Love this series

A selection of genuinely interesting and odd characters that bring a smile and moves the storyline on.
Enough jeopardy to keep it interesting and humour to lighten the mood.
