Summary

A USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller.

An uneasy alliance between warring families gets heated in this otherworldly novella from bestselling author Ilona Andrews.

At first glance, the planet Rada seems like a lush paradise. But the ruling families, all boasting genetically enhanced abilities, are in constant competition for power - and none more so than the Adlers and the Baenas. For generations, the powerful families have pushed and pulled each other in a dance for dominance.

Until a catastrophic betrayal from within changes everything.

Now, deadly, disciplined, and solitary leaders Ramona Adler and Matias Baena must put aside their enmity and work together in secret to prevent sinister forces from exploiting universe-altering technology. Expecting to suffer through their uneasy alliance, Ramona and Matias instead discover that they understand each other as no one in their families can - and that their combined skills may eclipse the risks of their forbidden alliance.

As the two warriors risk their lives to save their families, they must decide whether to resist or embrace the passion simmering between them. For now, the dance between their families continues - but just one misstep could spell the end of them both.

Excellent story read well

As usual another brilliant story well performed. It will be interesting to see where this leads.

Great

The Authors always deliver a fantastic read or listen.
This one is in the kingsman universe. It’s short and if you like it you will also enjoy the Baylor saga, starting with “Burn for me”.
The audible version is very well recorded, a pleasant voice and nice interpretation of situational tension in the voice. I enjoyed it a lot.
I highly recommend everything this amazing author duo ever written.

Enjoyable tale

This was the first Audible I bought and it is one I return to regularly.

I read the kindle version when it came out and enjoyed the story (although I wish it was longer!) so tried this as my first excursion into audio books. The narrator is excellent and I will be looking for more that he has read. Some I have bought since seem to think that it has to be spoken slowly and with deliberation, but this narrator sounds as if he is simply talking to you.

Really enjoyable.

Thrilling fantasy action adventure

This is a stand alone novella set in the the author’s Kinsman universe, (you don’t need prior knowledge of the Kinsman universe to enjoy it). The story is slick and well written, Aaron Shedlock’s warmly engaging narration fits it perfectly. World building is quite detailed, imaginative, yet believable.

Kinsmen families are a mix of high tech corporations, with feudal old world European manners and customs. Action takes place on a lushly beautiful Mediterranean-esque planet. Machiavellian political shenanigans are tempered by ingrained cultural and social rules of conduct, developed in ages past, because the strongest families are all biologically enhanced with extraordinarily dangerous abilities. Their conflicts are complicated, sometimes violently brutal and often deadly. But what happens when, despite a bitter feud going back generations, the heads of two of the most dangerous families are forced to work together?

Fated Blades is a deftly written, extremely enjoyable, thrilling, fantasy action adventure that I find myself returning to over and over again.

Different to their usual genre, but good

In some ways a short story but interesting concept. Fight descriptions very good as you can imagine the sequence of events. Antagonists to begin but a satisfactory end. Going to read The Kingsman Universe now based on the read. Wow

Fabulous story

I love everything that Ilona Andrews writes and this book is no different. Your imagination is captured as soon as you start reading and it’s held until the very last word. The narration is great and really helped bring this book to life.

Great story: wish there were two voices

Loved the story but so think it would be been improved with a male and female voice.

2.5 stars

This series isn’t as good as Ilona Andrew’s other books. This story had some good bits, but loads was just meandering about, and I didn’t feel hooked in at all. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was her early work and they’re only just turning it into an audiobook series to get more sales since her more recent work has been good and is popular.
