About this listen
When Sue Jan and the gals at the Crown of Glory Beauty Salon and Boutique set out the egg nog and fruitcake at their annual Christmas soiree, they have no idea the town's senior citizen playboy, Bubba Bustalet, will be hit on the noggin with the fruitcake before the night is over.
Sue Jan goes solo solving the mystery. She is soon at her wit's end between Wachita's know-it-all new sheriff, Bubba's senior-rita fan club, and all the tempting holiday food threatening to ruin her diet. Will Sue Jan find the felonious fruitcake felon before the church choir sings the last fa-la-la?

Fruit Cake
Love the narration of Michelle Babb, always brings out the humour
At the local Christmas party a popular senior citizen it lured outside and bashed with a fruitcake. Our two best friends who are amateur sleuths Sue Jan and Lovita are trying to solve the mystery

You're such a nut, Meg.
Half of the Fat Ladies duo, Lovita, is on holiday in England, so when Sue Jan falls over a body in the dark, it's down to her to find who did it without the assistance of her friend. All too short and perhaps not quite as much fun as when they are both there to share the banter, this book is still a delightful confection of gossip, humour and speculation. Seems the biggest casualty is Sue Jan's diet! And the marvellous Michelle Babb caries the story perfectly, giving gorgeous Texan twang to the conversations.
Felony Fruitcake is short, funny and a perfect distraction at any time, not just for the Christmas season. Would that it were longer. But there is the additional bonus at the end of the story of a fruit cake recipe and, best of all, Ms.Babb singing 'The Fruitcake Song.' It just couldn't get any better.

A silly short
A short and silly Christmas tale. I do totally agree with the philosophy that fruit is good, cake is good but fruitcake is blegh!
A thoroughly enjoyable Christmas caper with great narration that seems so much more than the short story it is, Linda certainly packs a lot of punch into these stories.
I totally recommend it.

A Beautifully Packaged Little Mystery
The writing is wonderful with not a word out of place. Our group of characters perfectly formed. The narration creates lovely images in your mind. A crime has been committed involving a fruit cake, literally, and our hero must solve who the perpetrator was. The humour is gentle and the story beautifully plotted. So much in such a short story.

Short and sweet cozy mystery.
Any additional comments?
One of the guests at the annual Crown of Glory Christmas party ends up unconscious out back near the dumpster. Sue Jan found the victim and decides to solve it.
This is told from Sue Jan's POV, since in previous books in this series they are told through Lovita's eyes. Lovita has gone to England to spend Christmas with the Hudson family.
The plot is condensed (since it is a short story) but it is good and funny.
Michelle Babb did a great job in differentiating the individuals and their attitudes.
I was voluntarily provided this review copy audio book at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrator.

Good Mystery.
Really enjoyed this one, The old boy gets hit on the head with a fruit cake and knocked out, there are plenty of suspects including a few of his lady admirers... plenty of twists to keep you guessing. Michelle Babb once again excels herself in the telling of this story, Recommended.
I was given this book by the narrator and have provided this honest and voluntary review.

Short and Sweet
A short one but kept my interest. I enjoyed it and it compliments the series well. Anyone whose listened to the others should enjoy it, newcomers to the series may want to check out the other books first. Michelle was on point at the narration and it made the story more enjoyable!

funny
I am a northerner living in south Alabama. This authored and narrator nailed the southern ethos in this short, charming cozy LOL mystery.
Favorite lines:
"ancient spinster sisters and cousins, don't ask..."
"I need deliverance from the chip demon"
"Cake...yeah! Fruit..yeah! Fruitcake..Blah!"
"Ever seen fruitcake on a restaurant menu? 'Noughsaid."
"Let me heat some coffee for you. I just made it this week."
